12V shutdown solenoid

My shutdown solenoid went out a couple months ago, and I got a new solenoid for $100. I was planning on installing it, but wanted to get an opinion on starter contacts and relay first. I know the old solenoid is bad since the top of it blew up. the jacket on the wires going to the solenoid were all dry rotted and missing. The solenoid blew up when I shut the truck off, not after I started it.

Question as follows:
Before I install the new solenoid, should I replace the relay and starter contacts? Can I test the relay before replacing?

I'ld say do all the parts at the same time , but if you want to exparament then do the starter contacts and a way of diconnecting the battery real quick , have a 2nd body turn the ing. sw. so that you can disconnect if something starts going south.
