Why so high?

Why are all the 94 - Present CTD truck bodies set so high above the wheels? Doesn't this make this them more prone to rollovers?

I believe it helps them have a sharper turning radius by improving a few critical dimensions...

...Not any real help.... But they also give you the opportunity to work on your deadlifting skills trying to put things in the bed

And of course, most importantly, slammed 4x4's aren't cool!

Dodge makes 'em high from the factory 'cause they expect us to load 'em up pretty good.

Prone to rollover is a function of where the vehicles's center of gravity is in relationtion to the roll center created by the vehicles front and rear suspension system.

I be pullin', not fillin' (bumper pull horse trailer with weight distribution bars, total trailer weight loaded 5-6,000 lbs). Is the added height doing me any good? Can it be lowered without too much difficulty for easier access, both to the cab and bed?

The CTD engine weighs twice as much as that Hemi does.
Probably sags the suspension a little more.

Seems to me that the Big 3 truck makers have simply done at the factory what most of us would have done in the first place... put the springs on top of the axles instead of below them.

Too dang high to me. I just had to raise my gooseneck horsetrailer 6 inches to get enough clearance and to get all the weight off rear axle. Its because the frames on Ford and Dodge are straight, look at Chev, the frame isn't straight, it dips down, you can see it easily. Love my too tall Bada$$ dually though.

I love how they sit. I wouldnt want em any lower or higher fromt he factory. If you want a low sitting truck, you will have to buy a chevy.
