A Little respect on TV Finally

Hey I am a fairly avid viewer of the "power block," on spike tv on the weekends, when I'm not working. Occasionaly you can actually learn a little something.
Anyway I caught it last weekend, the show extreme 4x4 caught my eye. On their coverage of unique offroad events they featured a DHRA sled pull. Talk about entertainment on these shows finally.
During the show they spent the day with Van Haisley and his crew. He actually opened the hood and gave a few details about his truck. He was extremely selective about what he said though. At any rate he claimed to have upwards of 1450hp and about 1800tq. The torque seems a little low for that much hp, but who knows, both those numbers aren't probably honest.
The hood was only open for a few secs but you saw those turbos and boy is that primary a big sucker. Very impressive.

keep in mind the rpm`s those trucks run,,hence the lower than expected torque numbers...........if you ever watch them run,i dont see 1450 hp as being unreal at all............................bama

The 1450hp is real and the 1800 torque is real.

The reason torque sounds low to you is that you didnt take into consideration that they are making their peak horsepower close to the 5000rpm range. At 5252rpm ANY engines hp will exceed its torque out put.

I've seen that under the engine personally, I job shadowed them when I was in high school. The project for the day was putting a clutch in my truck.

I always heard that at, 5252 RPM an engines hp and torque will be exactly the same.
