Cummins = No Respect
In the last 2 yrs the only place Ive heard good things about the cummins is here on DTR and on a furd site yes I said furd most of those PSD fans we've ran into are willing to admit they love the cummins and if they had the option in ford it would highly out sell the PSD. for obvious reasons. I even read on the dieselstop " HOW DO I GET 800+ FP Of TORQUE OUT OF MY PSD ?????" and a moderator replied "SELL YOUR TRUCK AND BUY A CUMMINS"
I died
Ive yet to read in any magazine a artical that diplicted the cummins to what it truely is.
just the other day in FOURWHEELER they were talking about the diesel drags at first they was really talking the cummins up "CUMMINS + biodiesel = 9.2 sec " of couse it had twins and some other things also .Then in the last paragraph they blew it saying
"we have made many performace mods to the cummins powered dodge , how ever with our bone stock 6.0 PSD we think we can dust the modified dodge showing just how far the diesel engines have progressed over the last couple of years"
NOW COME ON there no way a stock psd will touch a tricked out cummins !!!!! what a joke whats wrong with all these writers does ford own every truck magazine Ive ever read.???
If anyone knows a magazine that tells the truth and dont bash the cummins please let me know.

Yeah...that's BS. The diesel drag racer they're talking about is at www.cumminsracing.com. There is no way possible that a stock engine will keep up w/ that Cummins! You can read through that site and see all the mods they've done to the engine/drive line. Heck, they had to rebuild the whole frame because the Cummins torqued it so hard that it bent! And they snapped planetary gears and burned up clutches. Those writers are either getting money from somebody to say that crap or they're just stupid.
Those guys at the dieselstop have no sense of humor! If one of their forum mates says the least thing bad about their 6.0 and doesn't have at least 300 post they call him a troll? They ask questions and when someone on there gives an honest answer they tell them to join another forum. Everytime I go on that site I am glad I'm a member of Diesel truck resource we don't have to bash everyone else to feel good about our trucks we know we have the best! I guess that is why all of us aren't insecure about it and we can have honest discussions about our trucks.
Those "powerfull" new 6.0's with 325hp? and 550tq? realy only produce 205hp and 430tq. Saw it for my own eyes on a dyno.
So, 7000lb ford with 205/430 and a slushy auto v.s. a 500+?/1000+? very light dragster with twins.......those magazine guys must realy like thier ferds.

I did not know that there are any other diesel sites (just joking). I have a hard enough time keeping up with all the posts here at DTR. DTR rules - and it has rules - that's great! Cummins has a great engine and like was stated above, only time will prove this again and again.

I was talking to a fella just the other day who is into sled pulling and he was saying that he really didn't see that many Rams entering the pulls. I will admit,,, I don't know squat about the pulling competitions,,,,, but I had seen quite a few in articles on our site. He was saying that there is a PSD down around the lower SE corner of VA that claims he has over 1000 hp and the truck is still street driven. Even this fella I was talking to (who was driving a D-max) was a little skeptical.
But, I did manage to find out that there are going to be some pulls around this area and the Chesapeak area, with one being held just a "stones-throw" from my front door on September 4th. I think I'm going to start looking into these events and I'll report back. Any of you VADTR 4x4 members interested in a little sled pulling? Oh yeah,,,,, the fella with the track by my place took me out to see his new Sand Drags track, complete with lights and time slips that he hopes to go full throttle on next year.
It would be nice to show em what our little 6-bangers can do!

Thanks for the support and keeping up with us. We hear all of the time about the "phantom" 7 second street trucks, or other BS.... There are some race only guys getting into the 10's, and maybe 9's....
I can't tell you how much we laugh at the stories we have heard at the races, or at shows.
Almost as good as the old "car was so fast you could not grab the $100 bill off the dash" that was the urban legend of the 70's...

John, I had just spent $600 on my A/C and was feeling kinda down. That is what I always do when I'm feeling down is go to the diesel stop. It peps me right up!
long....short version...
got the yung'uns to soccer practice. 2nd gen dually pulls in next to me...sounding a little rough. He asks how mine pulls..."OK, I guess." Well, this dually won't pull my father-in-laws camper 35 mph...OUT of OD...It weighs around 13k. He proceeds to offer other info....#1. Not his truck. #2. starts talking Ferds. (I knew this was coming when the conversation began). #3. He WANTS a 350 Ferd. My reply...."Yeah, they are nice trucks. You'll love it.
....now, why is HE driving someone elses Cummins anyway...if you don't like it, don't borrow it!
Next guy.....2 weeks ago.
guy stops me coming out of a store. "That your truck?"..."Yes". What kinda milage you gettin'...."around 18"..."I've got a DMax and get around 16"...I've got a chip and it still won't get over 16"..."It sure is fast. It'll spin the tires no problem"...maybe this is why he cannot get over 16 eh???....."My tires are almost slick and I've got about 8,000 miles." "Is your truck fast?"....."No"...end of discussion.
I have realized that 95% of the "men" around here that stop to talk trucks only want to talk about their truck and slide in remarks and comments to put yours down. I let'em talk all they want. I think it makes them feel better
