Synthetic oil filter
I am not disputing a dino engine oil usage at all. If you change it like you did, it should last for ever. I was more asking about not trusting the filter for the longer interval is all.
I love these controversial discussions but..... my 2001 which I sold to my brother at 255k on 25k oil changes now has 306k and it still tests lower than most dino oil engines done every 5k? I am confused what should I tell him to do now? I know, drive to 400k the same way like my 91 which was maintained the same way. Why would a high tech nanofiber low micron filter cost the same as a cheap paper filter, no clue but thats what I have used for 800k on 3 trucks. I can't imagine why the last Cat 3406 went 13,000 hours on the same system and lived or the guy I worked for and his 22 trucks and 28 pieces of heavy equipment. Were all wrong! $18,000.00 Cummins B engines are way cheaper than $25.00 filters. Time to go-pot stirred and beds a calling.
I was looking at the amsoil setup but got scared away a bit from location issues and the hose setup. There seems to be a bit of magic relative to what kind of hose connections you use, type of hose and final location. The kit isnt necessarily the end all... I dont remember all the details but in the final analysis it seemed like the risk reward wasn't there. I change way to often (filters at 5k oil at 10k km) running amsoil synthetic and concluded that a broken hose would be far worse than not having extra filtration.
I may have reached the wrong conclusion and would also be happy to hear others experience.

Did my oil and filter change(15-40)..Unless its all in my head...The amsoil change over sure made the motor way more smoother..Even the slight motor rock I use to get when idling is gone...The truck sure feels alot more looser..
I did the complete switch over on my truck 2 weeks ago to AMSOIL. The tranny seems to slide into gear a little smoother and the motor doesseem to rev a little easier. I'm tracking my mileage to see if there is any difference.I also have a preferred customer number if anyon wants anything FYI.
Torn apart a few 5.9L and seen a few failures along the way. The thrust bearings on automatic truck seem to take worst damage from the lack of oil/triple disk converters billet flex plates. The common rail guys do more piston damage than the older trucks, not sure how any oil can help there. Most 5.9L even trucks that don't change oil, the bottom end is in mint shape. Only seen one engine so far with whipped mains/rod bearings. The rods needed some TLC to get them true again.
