Did Mel record the pressure readings for the transmission? That way you can do some condition monitoring of the transmission. Mines around 100psi of line pressure. There are 4 1/8npt ports on the passager side, each one is for a different servo. I have a write-up at home giving you a full performance test for the transmission. Just record the mesurements for different gears and TC lock-up/unlock. I have the hose with the gauge as well. The hose is long enough you can monitor the pressure inside the cab. I was originally going to run a permanent pressure gauge inside the cab.

What transmission oil does the transmission use? How often is it recommended to service the transmission?

so another little issue . . . when the engine is cold and i shift into gear the engine just stalls as if dumping the clutch on a manual. when not dead cold, but still cool, it will stumble when put into gear. when truck is warm or has been running for a while all is good. this will get annoying fast if it's not a simple fix . . .

any and all input is appreciated.

My last transmission did that, it had a TCS triple disk converter. I just gave abit of throttle during the intial gear engagement. You could add abit more timing with a programmer. Its from your torque converter. It drop engine rpm's abit to much and stalls the engine. Your converter must push hard when your on the brakes. My DTT transmission doesn't do that and my truck drive like a near stock truck. You have an idea of the TC is stalling at? For me a 1800-1900rpm converter is near perfect. I've driven low stall, mid stall and higher stall converters in my truck. I prefer the higher stall, lower stall converters cause to many driving issues to be any good.

Yup, that would be the converter. My first converter nearly stalled my truck a few times randomly then Mel put in one from his builder in Edmonton and all is well now and has been since last year.

When I got my DTT tranny installed they warned me to watch for second gear starts (bad news, means all is not well electronically).

i was thinking it is the converter too. maybe too tight or too low of a stall. almost as if it is locked up before i drop it into gear.

the converter is from his builder . . .

i'll be taking it back up, but want to drive it around in various conditions for a while to see if there is anything else worth mentioning . . .
