If you're looking at my price, it included an 8 hour install..
For the time it takes, the D5 kit I had came with the dip tube for the tank. I would go that route the next time instead of the factory spigot on mine.

My D5 was $1900 from Cummins two years ago. I tried shopping around Calgary, wasn't much I could find at the time. That included the draw straw and timer. There are also air heaters (Airtronic) heaters from Espar. I wanted mine to preheat the engine, the cab was just a nice bonus. If you're just looking for a warm cab, an Airtronic heater could be something to look into.
Jason, whats wrong with going to the factory pickup for the install? I'm planning on switching my heater to the 12v now that I'm home, but I don't want to lift the beds off of both trucks, especially since the 12v has the gooseneck hitch in it.

I am having a heck of a time getting an air tight seal to the tank. With the swedging I had to do to go from the 1/4 line on the pump to the 5/16??? size on the spigot, I get air in it after every shutdown. Makes it hard to get the heater started first crack. I need to get under there again and re-check all my connections. The dip tube just eliminates all that junk..

Can i make a suggestion on the heat here? I have 3 heaters on my truck. Now what i did was i got the newer cummins 8.3 block heater it is 3/4 of an inch. Now all the 5.9 have are 1/2 pipe thread. Now you can use the lower part of your block like i did and go from 1/2 to 1 inch pipe and back down to 3/4. This is a 750 watt heater i put in the lower water housing and i leave it in over nite and that thing heats up everything nice for the engine including the oil. Then i have a davco fuel filter as well and that is a 100 watt fuel heating element in it as well. But it has a manifold inside that you plumb to your water line as well so the fuel is at coolant temp. Then i took a Katz heater and it is 300 watts and i stuck it to my gas tank and it is magnetic heater . Now mind you all you guys have plastic tanks i don't but i also have a 44 gallon tank in my truck as well. I no when i have 10 degree morning it starts right up and i have removed the heater grid delete. So if this helps and it's really cold by you guys you might have some luck with it. Now i do plan on moving back up north into the upsate portion of NY or PA by the end of the year. So i hope the fruits of my labor won't go to waste.
