Service Air Filter Message

I thought I would revive an old post to see if others have had the problem.

I can make the "Service Air Filter" come on if i squeeze the skinny pedal too hard at one time.

Does anyone else have this issue?

Its a little irritating, but i live with it.

It makes me wonder if the filter is allowing enough air through.

What are you doing to correct the issue? K & N drop in? other high flow filter?

My truck does the same thing as you described. However, the message goes away the next time I start the engine. I have only had it to happen twice and both times I was accelerating to merge into heavy traffic. The first time it happened I pulled the filter and it did look a little dirty so I installed a new one. The second time it happened was shortly after I installed the new filter so I assumed the filter was still ok. I think the problem is being caused by a program glitch.

stidwell,

When was the last time you had your truck re-flashed? I too was having that problem last summer but I took my truck into the dealer and they re-flashed and I haven't seen the message since. Every hill with the trailer on last summer the message would come up and I have not seen it at all this camping season.

I have had this happen several times. Had the dealer check things out. No problem ever found. Last time this message appeared, was camping with friends. My friend and I decided to pull out the air filter. Bottom of filter had about 3 inches thick of mouse nesting material ! No more problems sine then . Oh BTW, the air intake hole on the inner front fender is big with nothing covering it to prevent vermin!

S&B has reset their release date for their filters just because of this issue. not going to release until they have no issues.

I notice Amsoil doesn't have an EA filter yet but they do have a wix, perhaps this is the reason?
