Just got back from a trip to Maine this week. Every toll both I pulled into with my F250 SRW diesel, they immediately looked at the rear wheels. They then charged my accordingly. I ask them, what would the toll be if I had duallies and they told me DOUBLE!

They looked, and I paid.
When you go through the toll booth after Jan 1, 2005, in Illinois you will be in for a surprise. Tolls in most cases will double, or triple, depending upon the time of day. There are Three time zones or rates that will effect your tolls. The cheap one is from 10 Pm to 6 Am, this is the Overnight rate. The next is Non Peak 9 Am to 3:30 Pm and 6:30 to 10:00 Pm. Peak is 6-9 Am & 3:30-6:30 Pm Confused? You should have to live with it. Examp Hitch one additional axle or single axle trailer, even to your auto and you now are considered a 3 axle truck. If you have a dually, you are also considered a 3 axle truck. I can see some trucks pulling there triple axle trailer with there dually, you are now considered a 6 axle truck, and some tolls could be over $ 4.00 dollars, per toll booth. If you are on I-90 from Chicago and are heading to Wisconsin, you will pass 5 toll booths, or about $ 20,00 dollars in tolls with that combo. My tolls were 80 cents prior to Jan 1, truck & trailer, but now will be $1,60 useing the lowest time slot, but could be $ 2,40, Who Knows, depending upon time of day. My only salvation is that I keep my trailer at my sons house, 44 miles from me, and that being in a rural area, the roads are FREE.

Talk about raising a post from the dead; thanks for the heads-up (I think...).
Man, I hope the toll-man here in the state of merryland doesn't see this post; it'll give them more ideas...
Merryland is the free state, just not the tax free state.

I think you guys need to revolt down there. Do you think your tolls are getting out of hand a bit, ehhhh?
Tolls should be discontinued after build cost and maintenance cost is achieved. Are they planning on rebuilding everything maybe, or maybe it is just another cash grab.

The Illinois Tollway Authority is the biggest Crock of @#$% there is. There are no tolls in Wi/Mi/In/Ia and all their roads are better than ours. This is the biggest Gov funded pork project on the planet. How can they just get rid of it, We are using our toll money to pay the salaries and pensions of a bunch of Gov workers we don't need in the first place. Where does it end?
That toll BS is been going on for years as soon as you reach Maryland coming from the south.
At least in Florida they still know the differance between tires and axles.
When I go north, which is very seldon now, I make a hard left turn at Fredricksburg, VA head out 17 to 81, go north to Scranton and head east on 84. Don't put up with the traffic
or the stupid tolls they impose to run their socialist states.
I got charged for 5 axles coming accross the Mackinaw Bridge two years ago pulling my 5fer. I asked why? I don't know was the answer. They really needed to charge extra for that bridge or they need to start the ferrys up again. What a junk pile. Speed limit of 40. I can only say I saw it, sure did'nt enjoy it.
