Lightbulb Rotella 15W40 at Sam's Club

Sam's Club is selling 6 gallons of Rotella 15w40 for about $38. Is this a good price? Would anyone recommend using Rotella? How good is it when it comes to lubricating the mighty CTD? I've been using AMSOIL.

Thanks for the input.

The price isn't that great, I think it's about the same or even a little less by the gallon at Wal-Mart. Nothing wrong with Rotella except it's a li' stinky after an oil change. It's a very popular oil. I think Delvac 1300 and Delo 400 are better oils than Rotella for less money though.

I get my Rotella at BJs. Don't remember what it costs though. I used to have the smell problem when the truck was new but it doesn't do it anymore. I haven't had any other problems other than the smell. I would say that if you don't mind paying for the Amsoil then continue using it. I've been thinking about going synthetic but I have to change mine so often it will kill me. I've got 30,000 miles in just a little over a year.

The best prices I have ever seen for Rotella T or Delo 400 are about $36 for a six gallon case at Costco and Sam's Club. So if this guy's reported $38/case "price isn't that great" then what is a "great" price and where?

You can buy individual gallons of Delvac and Delo for under $6 at Wal-Mart. So $38 isn't great when most Sam's (discount?) Club's have a Wally-Mart next door that sells the stuff cheaper by the gallon.

So what you are saying is his $6.33/gal ($38 for six gal) "isn't a great price" but slightly less than $6.00/gal is? We're talking about only 33 cents per gallon difference here. Besides, if his local Sam's club (owned by the same folks as Walmart) wants $38 for six gallons I'd almost bet that his local Walmart wants over $6/gal.

IMHO I wouldn't use the term "price isn't that great" to describe $38 for six gallons of diesel motor oil!

IMHO once you find diesel motor oil in the "ballpark of $6/gal" you can't find much better prices.

Your using AMSOIL right
Why do you want to DOWN GRADE to common dino oil
Just install a AMSOIL Tri-Gard By-Pass System and never change your oil again

I agree the price isn't great. My local walmart sells d1300 for 4.99 a gal, rotella for 5.49/gal and delo for 599/gal. If I was going to use a dino oil, I'd use d1300. It has a robust additive package, and is the only 15w40 dino that flows like a 10w40 at cold temps.

So, why do you want to swtch from Amsoil? You do know that Rotella is plain old dino oil? Personally I'll stick with the Premium blue that cummins recomends

If it is at all possible for you to open your mind about this matter I believe you will find that prices differ based on location. While you may be able to find diesel oil as low as $4.99/Gal in Cleveland, prices that low are simply not available everywhere.

Jonesboro, I don't think that type of attitude is necessary around here and I find it disrespectful.

FYI, those prices were at the walmart in Sarasota, FL, from where I just moved, and are also at my local OH walmart.
