Shell Rotella 15w40

Is this the proper weight and the Rotella I've seen mentioned here? My 05 is a daily driver (for now). I've heard the filter is on pretty tight, so I was thinking of having the dealer do the 1st one then I'll take over. If I can move the oil filter with my wrench, I'm going to do the 1st oil change myself.

I saw a case of 6 gallons today at BJ's for $40. Good price? I haven't checked Wally World yet.

TIA.

Thanks. It mentions something about Soot control on the box, so I figured it was the right one. As far as what to do with 15 gallons, we have alot of members in the MD/VA area. If I were you, I'd go to the next get-together and offer to change everyone's oil.

I run Shell 15w40 in my truck and the last time i bought oil, which was a month ago, I think i paid about $32 for 6 gallons. I get a discount on oil product through work. But if you paid about $40 for 6 gallons that doesn't seem too bad for buying in a store.

Yeah, that's only 5 oil changes. In a sealed container 5 years is no big deal.

Most oil manufactors recommend that their oil be used in one year due to additive fallout. The additives end up at the bottom of the container. You usually only see this warning on 55 gallon drums since they are hard to agitate to mix the additives back in.
The age is of little concern on smaller containers where you either use all the oil at once or can easily shake the container up.

I have been debating on buying oil in 5-gallon buckets. Do yall just pour the oil in gallon containers and then into the engine or pump it in. Its easy to count my gallon jugs.

I always do 12 qt changes so it makes this easy.
When I've used five gallon containers I pour whatever the least amount is into gallon containers. In other words, pour two gallons into gallon containers then dump the rest of the five into the truck. On the next oil change use those two 2 ga containers plus one more you pour out of the new five.

Usually I get my oil out of 55 ga drums and use a one gallon oil can that has a spout built into it.

nope, i grabbed mine at the walmart in markham [markville mall..] it isn't the cheapest there, but they had it on the shelf so i got some... over on the tdiclub there are guys saying they can get it for less than $18 per 4 liter jug from some distributor... i need to find that distributor and get 3 cases...

i do work over by hwy7/keele... i work at the CN macmillen yard there in the diesel shop... [well, my shop is more over towards credit stone and langstaff]

I just got hired on at the intenational dealer about an hour from here , got looking around the showroom , they have XD-3 , Rotella (in a couple different flavours) and delvac 1 , so whats the best choice out of those 3? i never asked about prices...I would imagine once i start i will get a discount, but i don't know.
