The way I do it with 5 gal buckets is with an 11 qt. change, I have a 2 qt can with a spout. I filled the can up about half way and filled the filter then I put 5 full cans into the engine.

they have XD-3 , Rotella (in a couple different flavours) and delvac 1 , so whats the best choice out of those 3?
i'd still tap delvac1 as being tops out of those 3, but from some more reading, the xd-3 is good too.. both of them are PAO [4] based synthetics, while the rotella syn. are base 3 hydrocracked stock.. it is good oil too...

just remembered something on my way out to work last night, with the XD-3 [esso or exxon] only the 0w40 is pao based... the other stuff is base 3 or regular dino oil

kcastun,

I'd say ROTELLA is the best choice But I am brand loyal and not above shelling (pun intended) out a few extra bucks for my brand if I have to.

www.rotella.com has a pretty good list of places to buy: http://www.rotella.com/wheretobuy/

And on their forum, the moderator has a good procedure to follow for getting ROTELLA if it aint on the shelves:

As for storage, you want to keep that container sealed and clean. Contamination will probably come from water and even a little water on the top of a pail might actually get sucked in through the pour seal as the temperature goes up and down through the course of the day.

I buy Rotella at Tractor Supply Co. Get it in 1 and 2.5 gallon containers. Walmart is another good source for Rotella in the 1 gallon container.

Rodmod,
Is Rotella T a group I or II base oil?

This is a good price. I paid $48.00 for a case at auto zone when in a pinch.
Used to get them at Walmart, then I decided I hate Walmart.
