Removal of overhead console housing?
Re:Removal of overhead console housing?
1. Disconnect and isolate negative battery cable
2. Remove the overhead console retaining screws located in the sunglasses storage bin.
3. Using your fingertips grasp the sides of the console and pull straight down evenly to disengage the two snap clips at the front of the unit.
4. Lower the console far enough to access the wire harness connectors.
5. Disconnect the EVIC, CMTC electronic module and the reading/courtesy lamp electrical connectors.
6. Remove overhead console from the vehicle.
This info is taken from the manual. Mine does not have a sunglass bin that I know of but I should probably take a look.

On further examination, it appears that the instructions consul removal were not revised as they seem to be for the 2nd generation Ram.
My console is attached to the headliner to the headliner, probably with clips. You may need to drop the headliner to remove the console.

Re:Removal of overhead console housing?
Believe it or not the instructions in the Manual are wrong (what..... DC wrong!!?!?!?!?)
On the 03's there is no screws & you don't need to remove the headliner.
Grab the edge of the console at the front & pull down it should pull loose fairly easily, the back clips are tougher, get your fingers between the console & headliner as far back as you can, pull forward & down at the same time (rocking side to side might help too), it will come down but not easialy.
remember it's made of plastic so don't gorrilla it!!
I had mine down looking to tap into a 12v wire for my radar detector, i couldn't find a 12v hot while the door was closed though.
It was wierd, the lead I checked had 12v when the door was open but 9v when it was closed & the overhead lights were off.
Electrical is not my thing so I could have missed it, if you find a constant 12v lead let me know so I can hard wire mine too!!!

Any new info on which wires to splice into to get a 12v power lead for a radar detector from the overhead?
Saw on a site a while back someone posted pics and said they found a 12v with the key on, black and red wire?
thanks

Hey Moose, I haven't had mine off for a while, but I thought you take the lenses for the two lights on the console out first, and there were 2 screws in there(Philips?) that you take out? (I seem to remember prying the 2 lenses out with a small flat head screw driver, and then taking out a couple of screws??)

I got a 12v supply from the wiring harness to the rear view mirror to power my radar detector. Also picked up the ground up there too. I just used a narrow spade and slid it in next to the 12v supply wire and ground wire on the mirror connector from the back side.
