One of the light switches broke last night in the overhead console. I took the door off but I think to replace the switch the entire console needs to be removed. I see 2 tabs at the front is there anything else? I don't want to break the darn thing.

 

Take out the screws,, hold down the tabs, then slide it either forward or backward. I can't remember either way, but it will pop just slightly when you do and then it will give.. I had a light come on a dn stay on and that bastard was hot when I was trying to get it off.

 

I think you just hold the tabs and slide. Can't remember directions, just had mine out replacing my Overhead Computer display unit.

 

Thanks. It turns out you push those 2 tabs and slide to the rear. One of my tabs was broken. The switch that turns the map light on had come apart. I glued it and put everything back together. It seems to hold fine with 1 tab working as everything is pretty tight up there.

 

My light just stayed on and would not shut off last night. Wound up popping off one of the lenses over the light and removing the bulb (and breaking it) in the process. I'll have to get in there and fix the switch again.

the switch is such a strange set up I am sure it is a dealer item. maybe? boneyard only?
