i have found more uses for the Mega than you would imagine.

our kids are grown-n-gone, but every weekend, we have someone in the back seat reclining & talking about how great it is.

took men's group to church function tonite, couple big'ole boys stretched out back there.

my wife is small, she fits in the center front seat, and so do kids.
just have them put their feet on the center console, and don't worry about it, it's a truck, after all.

if your kids are 10~12, they will be big enough to need the mega space sooner than you think. i bought a kingcab S-10 when my kids could fit in the rear jump seats, within a year, they could NOT fit back there.

Dad is 6' and has diabetes so needs to move frequently. Over xmas we went to Idaho and took them with us to Denver, Moab, Ut, Salt Lake City and back to Pocatello. Dad said that was the most comfortable he has ever been on a road trip. He and Mom sat in the back seat. I would catch him back there moving his feet back and forth. Plenty of room. They are asking where we're going next. As they're ready for another trip. MEGA CAB All the way.

I love mine. Whatever you do however, DO NOT place anything on the back seat you have to reach for while driving - that's an accident waiting to happen!!

Don't ask how I learned this little piece of advice. I didn't bang up the truck, but it was close.

I suspect off-roading is a different situation in California than in Pennsylvania. The closest desert we have is, well, the same one you have.

Also, for VegasHD, the turning radius difference between a QC SB and a Mega is a tad more than 1 foot. Per the specifications listed on the Dodge website, the QC SB has a turning radius of 44.2 feet vs the Mega's 49.7 feet, for a difference of 5.5 feet. In the woods that can mean the difference between making it through and having to back up and find a different route (if you can). It also makes parking a lot easier. And yes, high centering gets easier to do as wheelbase increases.

I traded my 02 QC long bed in on an 06 Mega and have not missed the extra 20" or so of be length that I lost. I have hauled lumber and drywall in the Mega and it works just fine. I do however really like the extra cab space that I gained with the Mega. With the seat folded down I can put my air compressor and tools in the rear seat area and still have room for my dog box. When we go hunting there is room for four guys in the truck instead of three like in the QC. The only way someone (besides kids) can sit long term in the back seat of the QC is sideways, then there is only room for one in back.

Yup, I vote Mega.

Why? I use a car seats in my quad all of the time.

I just talked to Alton Truck Mfg about extending a quad cab. It's pricey, but they could do a b-pillar extension so it didn't have to look like a Mega cab. Since I plan on keeping the truck for a really long time I'm considering it.

I read that too, but every magazine article I oculd find listed the quad cab at 47 and said 44 feet was not happening.
