All whether you want need long or short bed. If you don't need a long bed, go with Mega - - --if you can stand the looks.

Hmm
I've had two adults and a 10 year old in the back seat of my QC and they were fine for the 450 mile trip. They were suprised at how comfotable it was. That being said, the Mega may be more comfortable??? A friend of mine has a Chevy but it doesn't have the full size rear doors, its like the 2nd gen Dodge and the new QC has a lot more room then the Chevy. Look at both and see which one you like better. I don't think you would be dissapointed with either one.
And like someone else already said, why the switch from the Duramax?

I bought the quad cab because I wanted the 8ft bed. If you've got the extra cash buy a mega cab and send it to Texas and have it converted to a long bed. It's about $5,995 last time I heard. If I knew it only cost that much I would have possibly done it. I should call Alton Truck Mfg and see about a 6 door conversion!

I was also open to either the Chevy or the Dodge (not Ford after my 6.0L experience). We test drove the Chevy with the Allison and it really rode and drove nice. We got in the back seat and my knees touched the front seat. We went to Dodge and had the same experience . . . however the salesman said . . "well, we have one called the Megacab if you need more room". When we got in that . . . . . SOLD!. The bed isn't as important to us as the inside comfort as we mostly use it to pull a camper. . . . . and besides, you can put a lot more in the bed of a Mega than people might think

Go for the Mega!

You might have got that info from one of my posts since the middle section of the rear QC seat is ~ 4 inches shorter than the sides. I tried both our car seats and neither was stable enough when secured. (Eddie Bauer & Britax) Since posting that info, the Mrs. informed me that the base of some seats can be removed. I pulled the base off the Eddie Bauer, it secures well and my little guy loves to be able to see where we're going. It's easier for me as well to point out things to him as he's no longer looking at the back of my seat. I don't believe the base can be removed from the Britax we have, so that stays in the Volvo. It fits fine in the middle.

Having him in middle does make it harder to reach the storage area under the 60 part of the 60/40 seat without unbelting his seat.

I never thought about doing that. I've got the same problem.

Removing the base was pretty easy. I got out my tool box, but you only have to move a plastic tab and slide a 10" metal bar from inside the base. The base will slide right off the seat.

My son came over with his toy guitar, grabbed the metal bar and started playing his guitar like it was a violin. Think Jimmy Page in The Song Remains The Same. (without the feedback)
