Fan Noise

Does anyone else but me feel the fan is louder than the engine? Seems that clutch fan is very noisy until something happens like it disengages or something. Its a wind noise I dont think anything is wrong with it but it doubles the noise overall.

Re:Fan Noise

Sounds just like a big gasser don't it? You could always trade down to an '02 so you don't hear the fan.

Re:Fan Noise

Does make alot of fan noise. But either I have gotten used to it, or it is quieter after 11,000 miles. I actually believe it seems to tone down with break in time.

2 cents

Re:Fan Noise

yes the fan is noisy but look at what it has to cool

1 a/c condenseer
2 intercooler
3 radiator for a 305 hp 550 tq engine
4 transmission cooler to carry 20000lbs wt
5 power steering cooler

i would rather hear the fan than see steam coming out from under the hood

Re:Fan Noise

I can't hear my fan due to the loud noise coming out of my tailpipe (no muffler!).

Re:Fan Noise

If your fan is too noisey all the time then turn off the AC and it will stop . It should stop when you get enough air flow accross the radiator when moving. 8) 8)
If your makes it all the time take it to the shop and have them fix it.

Re:Fan Noise

Every time that fan comes on I find myself applying the brakes to keep my truck from running away like an airplane...

Re:Fan Noise

The roar (sound) of the fan is normal but if the "Duration" of that roar is excessive then you have a problem. If it doesn't stop by the 1st shift (auto) or near that shift then the "Fan" might need to be replaced. Mine was replaced due to the long duration, up to over 30mph, and my problem was solved.

Good luck.

Re:Fan Noise

When mine comes on, it typically shuts off right after I've shifted into 2nd......or I guess it's really third because I start out in 2nd.
