Dang Fan Shroud... Fan Clutch Help?
Okay, so I'm trying to put on a new fan clutch, and I'm in my garage where there's not the best of lighting.
I've gotten the 4 bolts out of the fan shroud, and it's loose. How do I get this sucker out of here? Do I need to take out the bolts on the back of the clutch, or take out the bolts that go to the pulley, and take the fan and shroud out as a whole, or is there something I'm missing?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Tryin to get this all done tonight before work at 5 tomorrow morning.
It'll be nice getting some power back, and not having people say my plane is ready for takeoff...

Ok, how're you supposed to break that nut, just put a big crescent on it, then turn the motor over, or...
Sorry yall. They say there's no such thing as a dumb question! Though there's apparently a lot of inquisitive idiots around, as my boss always says...

How I do it:
Hit the right side of the big nut flat hard with a long bar or drift and a hand sledge. A 1-7/16 wrench and large Channel-Locs will get the fan off easily now.
I never remove the shroud to remove the fan. After the fan is loose straddle the oil fill between two fan blades and rotate the fan clockwise, it will come right out.

I tried everything and couldn't get mine off. Finally I took the fan pulley off the block and took it to an auto shop. They had an open ended wrench with an extended bar on it... they put that extended bar into an air hammer and drove it off that way. Heck, they didn't even charge me. In otherwords, it can be tough and you may have to go about it the way I did. Also remember that the threads are left handed.
