Changing headlght delay time

My truck headlights stay on for 60 sec after engine is turned off. Owners manual says "the dealer" can set it at 0, 30, 60 or 90 sec. I would like to change mine to 0, it is annoying to me.

Manual does not tell how to make changes, just wondered if any one out there has chnaged it yet?

thanks for the reply but I know about turning headlights off before shutting engine down. I just want lights to go off when ignition is turned off, like my other vehicles do.

It seems like you s/b able to adjust this like you can for the unfastened seat belt chime.

Even with it set to 0, you will still need to turn the lights off with the switch. They won't turn off & on with the ignition. What vehicles do you have that the headlights operate this way? I guess GM products do with their always on headlights.

My Infiniti I30 turns them off when ignition goes off. The problem I'm having is that I forget to turn headlights off before I turn off ignition. When this happens the lights will stay on for 60 sec unless you pysically turn them on & off again. Just quirky, I get a little nervous walking away from a parked car with the headlights still on.

Just annoys me. like the seat belt reminder did before I adjusted it so it does not beep when the belt is not latched. Have to have something to complain about. It's a wonderful truck.

Some vehicles have daytime running lights that turn off and on with the ignition key.

The only way I know of to set the delay to 0 is to have the dealer do it.

My vehicle has about a 30 second delay, but only when I turn off the headlights after turning off the ignition. If I turn off the headlights before, they turn off right away.

In my case, it's a '87 Suburu GL I just got so I wouldn't be driving my truck when the weather gets bad. I've gotten into the habit of just leaving the lights on in it as when I turn the thing off the kights go out and when I start it they come back on. Talk about getting lazy.

I am with you it makes me nervous to walk away with the lights still on.

My wife loves it, she can shut down and have lights in the garage while she gets her stuff out and heads for the door. Otherwise the only lights are the over head door light which is like a white bean in the rafters.

She loves it I hate it guess what?

I think the feature stays. When momma ain't happy ain't anyone happy.

I think it's a great feature. I haven't had to use it yet but I'm glad it's there in case I need it.

Is there a secret to that seat belt chime thing? I tried the manuals way! Ding Ding Ding Still works. I know just put it on and there wont be a problem.

The owner's manual method works. You just have to do it EXACTLY as it says. There are several threads about doing it. I seems to remember the trick is to hook/unhook the belt the number of times the manual says, not more. If you will do a search on it, you will find some great info on doing it.

Happy Holidays
