Cool time delay in speed control

I have this nagging but not serious problem with my speed contol system. When i hit the engage or resume type buttons there is about a 4 second delay before the speed control takes over. The delay makes me think did it not engage. Is this normal or do all the trucks do this? does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?
thanks

How well does it maintain speed once set?

I have the same problem, and once it is set it does drop off over time - it slowly slows down...

Check if the hose going to the throttle actuator under the driver's side battery has an acid caused leak.
If there is a slight leak it will cause the cruise to be slow, bigger leak and it won't work at all, even bigger leak and your 4wd and climate controls won't work.
