Brake Controller Installation

So I went to install a prodigy p2 brake controller with the factory supplied wiring harness and something else is either plugged into the connector up by the e-brake or the connector is not there. I have had other dodge diesels from 03-07 and they all had the simple plug and play. The difference with this pickup is that I bought it used. So maybe something and I am not sure what could be plugged into the connector but this truck is stock. Any ideas?? should I just wire the brake controller the 'hard way'?

Fast forward to 2.50 for actual wiring connections.

so the top image is the only connector I could find behind the emergency brake to plug anything into that's empty. The bottom pic is the factory wiring harness for the brake controller? I don't think it matches up

I just did this on a 2006.....unplugged an old Reese model and plugged in a new Prodigy model......with the Prodigy harness. Not a Dodge factory one.

I think you will need the harness put out by Prodigy to connect that unit to the one under the dash

Follow the wire loom.....is it connected on the other end to another plug in?

Most videos I have seen show this blue connecter but I cannot recall exactly what mine was.

Let me get this right.....the OEM supplied pigtail connector will not fit into that blue connector or not fit into the Prodigy unit?...

Is this the harness you have now?

Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers - Dodge
part number: 3020-P

Install your electric brake controller quickly and easily with this custom wiring adapter. Simply plug one end of the adapter into your brake controller and then plug the other end into the built-in harness beneath your vehicle's dash.
Features:
Adapter is wired for:
1995-2009 Dodge Ram 1500/2500/3500, Full Size, all models
1997-2011 Dodge Dakota Pickup w/Factory Tow Package
1998-2009 Dodge Durango w/Factory Tow Package
2007-2009 Chrysler Aspen w/Factory Tow Package
Wiring adapter eases installation of your electric brake controller
Custom connector end plugs into the built-in port beneath the dash of your vehicle
Other end plugs into the back of your electric brake controller

There is a hard wire version also......plug into the back of the Prodigy and hard wire to the under dash harness.

Go to E Trailer dot com......you can ask questions right there and get the finite answer as what will work.
Be prepared to take a pic of the back of the Prodigy unit and the blue harness.

ok after doing some more reading and finding other forums that had people with the same problem I got it figured out. from the dodge factory for the 2007 rams dodge did not leave the factory supplied plug in attached to the big harness of wires behind the parking brake. instead it was far up inside real close to the fire wall. on the year models previous to 2007, 06, 05 etc, dodge actually placed it in its little holder where it should be. so I found it way up underneath the dodge, untaped it and placed it where it should go. problem solved!! I didn't look near far enough and high enough. the pic is after I fixed it and put the plug in where it should have been, not where dodge put it.

Thanks for all the help MarCortez!!! your awesome man
