Alarm

Seems the alarm doesn't go off when the window is broken. I learned this the hard way early this morning when I found a bunch of glass around my 06 and a lot of stuff missing

That sucks!

You can break the safety glass with a sharp object, such as a center punch, with very little effort.

Don't the '06 Rams have laminated side glass, though?

Alarm

I thought mine had a full alarm & found out that it only consist of a disabling of ignition when key is not present. If you want to check, lower your window and then close door and lock with pushbutton on your key. Now reach in and pull up window lock button and open door. See, no alarm except for stupid back up. Tell me if I am wrong.

The alarms monitor the doors and ignition, when the red LED on the dash flashes slowly and steadily it is armed, it won't go off before that. Once it's armed if a door is opened or the ignition is turned on without the Sentry key the alarm will go off. You could have a shop wire an impact or glass sensor from an aftermarket system into the OEM system if they were good enough out figure out the wiring, it actually quite simple.

Sorry about the break in though.

I did exactly that test and the alarm went off. Did you get the Security Group option?

You could get an alarm (motion sensor and piezo sensor) installed pretty easily - you could DIY.
