c172driver I'm in San Diego, I ordered mine on Jan 7th, sometime between Feb 5th and the 13th my truck changed from a waiting status to a build status. At the current rate the 8-10 time quote should be accurate.

BTW - I ordered from Jack Powell after requesting quotes from all the dealers in San Diego, they were the first to get back to me, and with the best price. This is my second RAM in 2 years from them.

I just called and my truck is currently in F status, they're painting it. The DC guy said that they should be shipping it out this week. Told me to call back next week to get a delivery date. DC says approx. 20 days for delivery by rail. The Insight site still says D1.

Just called DC - they're finishing my truck as we speak, and he says it is still scheduled to ship today, 2/18.

He said that to this part of PA was 15 days shipping - I believe that's a bit optomistic, but, hey, when I called on the 6th, they had an estimated ship date of today, 2/18, and they've stuck to it.

Very cool. Hopefully by the week of March 8, I'll have my truck.

It sounds like yours is ahead of mine on the line. Mine isn't slated to ship until tomorrow.

This rep said ship time is around 15 days and may see it around 3/8. Crossing my fingers.....

Truck delivered to dealer today! Insight was close on my information it showed exit from facility yesterday. I talked to service person said transport was still full so must have been first delivery. Only negative is I can't officially take delivery untill March,4th. The reason is; I buy EP and I have to keep my truck untill 6 months are up. Good news is; the dealer is letting me have the truck to install Jake brake, fiver hitch and running boards. Plant release on 2-5 delivery on 2-18 to central Indiana.

NJ -

The rep at DC today said they SHIP pretty much as soon as they come off the line. I had always been under the assumption that D1 (gateline schedule) meant that it was about to be built in a day or two. I guess the "ship date" is also the "build date".

So, NJ, yours will be built and shipped on the 20th. My rep did say 15 days, but that's pretty quick to come from Mexico to our area. Perhaps they are shipping by rail to avoid the delays of the boats. I have a feeling the dealers are really wanting to get their trucks, for those of us who have ordered, and for their stock, and have probably complained to Mother Mopar about the shipping delays.

We'll see. I expect you and I will take delivery within a few days of each other.

That would be cool!

So far I've called DC 3 times. Each time I get a different person and shipping method. First call was boat to Baltimore. Second was rail from assembly plant. Third was boat to Texas and then rail to northeast. I'd like to think these reps are reading from a screen but get the impression they are just guessing.

Either way....it will get here when it gets here. This is the first time I've ordered a truck and able to follow it through production. I would have loved to see it assemblied and test drove it before being shipped. I'd even drive it home if allowed! A local friend was able to help build his Corvette right on the assembly line and then take delivery later on that week. Wish Dodge had programs like this!

I think they do offer that with Viper buyers, just like GM does with Corvette buyers. Money talks, but these trucks are getting pricey.

However, think of the volume of trucks produced, versus the volume of Vipers? Can you imagine if all us yahoos went down to Mexico to roll our trucks off the line?

The reps are reading off a screen, again, they confirmed my name, so they are not reading Insight, which is useless, IMO.

By the way, who is your dealer?

I have recently ordered a new 2004.5 Dodge Cummins 600. It will be the second diesel in the family and I can't wait.

I have read some messages about people wondering about their trucks, for example DavidNY04. He and others refer to calling a place named "DC." What is this place? Does anyone have the phone number? I am very curious about the status of my truck too but I don't know how to go about finding out.

Thanks for the help.

DC is Daimler Chrysler. Call their number to find the status 800-992-1997. You'll need your VON (Vehicle Order Number). They may except your name if you don't have the VON or VIN yet. Give it a try!

Your order sheet should have your order number on it. If you can't find it, ask your salesperson. Once you get D1 status (which may be a while now with the holds) you will be able to obtain your VIN.

When you call that number, you have to go ALL the way through the menu to finally get a Cust Service Rep. They WILL ask for your name, as they can see your information in their system.

Good luck.

Tally's Dodge, Point Pleasant, NJ

They aren't that big but offer great service and they are just blocks from my house, although I don't PLAN to spend much time at their service department.

c172driver, I'm located out in El Cajon. I ordered on 1/14, got D1 status on 2/5 and it's supposed to ship 2/23. From what I have been told, it takes about 2 weeks from ship date to delivery.

I bought from Anderson Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. They got me a pretty good price, not quite as good as others on here have got, but they worked very hard to sell me a truck and, to me, that's worth something. I went to Carl Burger's and gave them a printout of my specs showing both invoice and MSRP and asked them to give me their price. When I finally did hear from them a week later, they told me that they "couldn't give me a price yet but come on in and we can work on it." Not how I like business to be done. I have nothing against them though.

I'm actually glad I bought from AZ because it will give me plenty of time to get to know my baby on the trip back home.

insight network works fine for me

Thought I'd try to call DC, but it was continually busy (have yet to get through). So I logged on to the insight site and found that the truck had gone from D1 to shipping today. It also updates the future est. arrivals. Very nice.

Where you logged on has a statement:

Due to carrier reporting issues, the carrier is unable to provide accurate inventory information for the following locations:
Port of Baltimore
Port of Newark
Port of Tampa

Doesn't affect me, because its all rail to Benicia.
Arrives 3/1 and sheduled for delivery 3/10!!
