Nate-03 D's sig indicates he has an '03. I don't think they put the fitting on the cardan joint until '06. I may be wrong. You should have a decal in front of your radiator if your truck has the fitting. It also should be shown as part of your service schedule.

There isn't one on the 03's, just two grease nipples, one on each side of the cardan. Serviced mine the other day and checked for the 10th time to make sure. It isn't there on ours. It makes you think listening to everyone else talk about it though.

I believe they started putting the female zerk in the Cardan joint in '05, I know my '04 doesn't have one, I just pulled out my driveshaft and replaced the front joints with serviceable one's. I also replaced the ball joint in the Cardan as well.

I would probably start greasing your 4 ball joints as well when it hits 40-50k on the clock. There is no zerk on them, you have to get a needle attachment for your grease gun and puncture the rubber boot and fill it full of grease. The ball joints on these trucks take a beating and it would be a real good idea to keep them greased to prevent early failure.

Yea I realy don't think that I have the needle grease zerts, I looked again and no luck. I know im near sighted but im not that blind, they are not there.

And I have no decal stating that I need to lube anything.

Maybe this grease needle will come in handy for something else.

The needle will come in handy for doing what Deesil is talking about. Read some prior posts on it I just havent been brave enough to puncture the rubber boots.

Dealers....

Feeling your pain.....

I took my truck to the Astrodome area dealer for my forth oil change at 23k miles. (My fifth is free) I told them to lube my front drive shaft like it says in my owner's manual. The service writer told that there were no lube points on the front shaft. I told him that I know there is and to have the tech lube it THIS TIME, because they hadn't on the last 3 oil changes and their manual says that it should be done at each oil change. Anyway, long story short, the tech that filled out the 27 point inspection sheet that they leave in the truck, said that he greased the ball joints, but there were no lube points on either of the drive shafts. I have printed out the picture of the drive shaft lube point and the pic of the NAPA tool and I will take it and show them how and where to lube the front shaft.
I just can't believe that there is something in the owner's manual that they argue does not exist.
Oh, well, after the next oil change (read FREE) I will change my own and grease the front shaft with my own NAPA grease gun adapter that I bought the other day.

Look back at the first few posts on this thread. There is a link posted to another thread with pictures. BUT, I also read that there is no lube point on the '03 models later in the thread.
