Drive train lube points ** need pics ***
Well I realy want to start saving money on servicing my truck. I always worked on my cars and I not familiar with zerk fittings and other lube points my 2500 has.
So can somebody post some pics of what has to be lubed on the drive train axles, driveshaft etc and list the tools and part #'s what lube to use I need and mabe some tips on how to make sure its done right etc. I plan on running this truck till it plain falls apart.
Thanks

A grease gun and a grease needle. Get a good heavy duty synthetic grease. You've got one on each tie rod end and one on the front driveshaft closest to the transfercase. The tie rods get lubed like normal. The driveshaft is a pain but it can be done easily if you can get the shaft in the right position. You'll need the needle for that one.
Thanks t-boe do u have any idea what size greese needle I need? I remeber somebody posting a pic of the greese point on the front driveshaft and and napa part of the needle but cannot find it. Are all greese needles the same or universal like the zerk nozzles?
Ok now im gona realy sound stupid but i know the tie rods are in the front suspention but can u give me a better discriptive location. Im used to japaneese cars that u just add oil gas and drive a millon miles all all this greesing etc is new to me.
thanks for helping a newb like me

Grease needles are universal. Just pick one up at an auto parts store. The tie rod ends are right in front of the axle next to the tires. Look under the front of your truck and on ends of your steering linkage and bingo. No question is a stupid question. It's a learning experience.
Well I got all the parts and went to do the job and had a hella of a time first my grease gun broke ** dude sold me a real POS ** I got a new female end and went to greese teh driveshaft well stuck the serenge needle in there gave prob two pumps or so then the **** thing broke off cause of the angle errrrrrr got it out of the whole errrrr. I just hope that was enough to lube it.
Well the tie rods were next and im hoping I did not blow a seal out of them Im have lubed up the zerks on some equipment at my fire station and was always told to pump it in the zerk till alittle came spewing out to let u know it was full well did hat with the truck and I see the red mobil one greese spewing out of the back side. Did I blow out a seal or did i just overflow it with greese?
Man this should not be so **** hard
