When I went to Cummins school on these engines they said that they ran around the same RP as the 5.9 CR engine. From my experience in monitoring the RP at different operating levels they are prety much identical to those of the 5.9 CR and as far as gauges go one of my customer purchased a DiPricol RP gauge from me for his 5.9 and told me that it also works on his 6.7. That is which way I would lean if it was me. Hope this helps you out.

I heard Rp is much higher for the 6.7's. Also the injector tips are much better than the 5.9's

I have seen 27500 on a stock 6.7.
The injectors and tubes are S/S,the rail is also larger and stronger

I have seen 28,300 on the 6.7L. I have seen 31K with the rail capped.

I heard they dropped the RP a lot for the 6.7s....
If someone used a RP gauge from a 5.9L then they would think the RP is lower. The fact is that the sensors are mapped differently in the 6.7L application.

so will the 6.7 sensor read to 31000 unlike the 5.9 only reading to 27500

Thanks for the info qzilla. I thought it would be strange to have lower pressure and more power at the same time....

I would like to know more about the 6.7 rail sensor?

Same size just different output?

Same exact sensor but, it is scaled differently.

Located on the back of the rail just past #6 injector line. Sort of a pain to get to but, other than that, just like the 5.9L.

The biggest difference is the additional pressure and the relief valve.

It will function fine but, in no way will it be accurate.
