John, do you have any oil analysis from the period during which you only injected distilled water?

Anything that goes into the intake gets into the engine, just smaller amounts, lol. I have to make a correction on the coolant burning issue though, must have been tired. High levels of sodium indicate burning of antifreeze. Either way you dont want salt in there either.

Yeah buddy, I sure do. Let me find those and I will post the results up here for you guys. FWIW, there was never any "danger areas" on the analysis'.
One thing that I have started doing though is to change my oil more frequently if I have run the water alot during that oil change interval, so that probably keeps everything in check.

John, how long is a temporary vacation?

He may have just moved on anyway.....and has no plans to come back. But, if it was just temporary.......i'd thought it he would have been able to come back by now. I don't know the guy personally, I just hate to see him gone permanently if he would be willing to "get along" a little better. He has some neat ideas every once in a while.

Bswope... What exhaust manifold are you running? I did not see an aftermarket one listed, and if you are running the stock one I believe that has a big part in the melting of pistons... The exhaust cannot flow well being butted 90 degrees into another pipe. The aftermarket ones have slanted the connections so that it is not 90 degrees and will actually assist in drawing the exhaust much as proper headers do. Ask around and see what pistons are getting melted, my bet it is #5 or #6 but #5 is the heavy favorite on my card.
Good luck

Question

When you talk about a 2nd gen manifold...

Do you mean a stock one or an aftermarket brand?

I seems to me that a 2nd gen would flow less than a 3rd gen due to the fact that the 3rd gens have more power, stock to stock, of course.

One of the things I have missing from my setup is an exhaust manifold, and I've been hearing about 2nd gen ex manifolds being used on our 3rd gens for quite some time, I've just never seen any info on it or asked. Whats the benefit of using a 2nd gens...stock or aftermarket??...exhaust manifold? How is it any better than the aftermarket 3rd gens?

Don't know about performance benefits, but they are used for twins applications.

Thanks for doing that Sir! We need to keep the two topics separate.

TexasCTD:

The "vacation" is for thirty (30) days right now. If Ace wants to come back at that point and conduct himself accordingly that will be fine. If not, that is fine too. Hope that helps.

But that then brings to mind the option of injecting pre turbo inlet. If you inject only enough to saturate the air intake charge to 100% RH then you would benefit from a cooler intake and better compression from the turbo with little fear of drop out in the inner cooler. If you inject too much you can get into some real serious issues but doing it right could have some great benefits.
