Question Sorry to do this...

I hate asking questions about stuff that's been pounded into the dirt already, but I couldn't find my answer in the forum search. So, here goes: I'm looking for a stock replacement, re-usable, DRY (not an oiler), air filter. I don't wanna mess with re-oiling and screwing up MAF, etc. Just kind of a pain. Preferably something better than stock. Anybody know of one and where to get it? Thanks.

There is no MAF sensor on your engine, but I agree I'm not a big fan of cleaning and oiling. What if you don't get the oil uniformly on the filter? How can you tell if your oil has dried out? Where is my engine warranty again?

Which one is that? I have just the AFE also and the directions said it needed to be reoiled after cleaning. As a matter of fact it came preoiled.

My filter minder has never moved with a Napa Gold 2846. Even with over 20,000 miles on the same filter.

I could only get about 10,000 miles out of a stock filter in the stock airbox. I went to the BHAF and get about 35000 miles+ out of it....

I've got a BHAF on mine right now, but I'm seriously considering going back to stock airbox, or to something like a AEM DryFlow. I really like the Volant box, but it has an oiled filter. I may get that and fit an AEM in it? Who knows....

I've got 16k on my stock filter which is completely filthy and definitely needs replacement and my filter minder has never even budged either. Why? Cuz they're pieces o' crap and should never be trusted in my opinion. Thanks for the input though, I never even considered the Napa gold. I'll look into it. As far as the MAF is concerned, yeah I guess that's the temp sensor. Anywho, I thought I read somewhere that if you over-oil yer filter, oil can get on the probe and throw codes. People keep mentioning an AEM dry flow. Where are you guys finding these? I've checked many vendors and none supply one for our trucks (stock replacement). Thanks guys.

According to fleetfilter.com, the napa gold 2846 flows 675 CFM. My MPG stays consistent even when this filter appears very dirty. I believe it must have a very high dirt holding capacity before it shows restriction. BHAF 42790 is rated at 680 CFM.

remember a high CFM rating is inversly proprtional to the filtration. I.E. the more it can flow, the larger the particles that will allow to pass thru it. The larger BHAF filters will inheirently last longer due to greater surface area. I trust the BHAF and it's little brother that I use (MSAF) even if it doesnt have the highest CFM ratings. Although, time has come to develop a new heat shield and introduce cool air to the filter.
