Whew,

This is getting good. Having both I wonder where this is going. To get to the 600 HP range, the 7.3 is more costly. Stealth HPOP, Injectors, rods, turbo, fuel, Studs, etc. Grand total with work was over $23K for a 600 HP Stroker (BWD). For the Dodge, it will cost about 1/2 that.

For the money that is in that truck, it should win every single time it hooks by 75 feet more than the next farthest hook, but it doesn't. It's competitive, but not dominant. Most people won't be looking to drop that kind of dough into a 7.3.

ha well I realize there is some big money dumped into double overtime, basically just saying if we can ever get the fuel there then it could make some decent numbers. and 600 on fuel for the 7.3 doesn't quite take 23K....10-15 maybe...for 5k you can hit 500....tripple nick I told the ol man I was BSin you on here a bit...said he used to give you his old 4wheel mags haha. I love my PSD but like I say when it blows its gettin a 12v

What, $10-15K? Dyno rear wheel 600 HP? Let me know what your secret is? The HPOP, Turbo, Billet Connecting Rods, girdle, Injectors, TS Chip or SCT, intake, exhaust, intercooler, rebuild kit, ceramic pistons, FASS, plus fire-ring and machine work. And this doesn't include the trans to handle this power, BTS, ATS, John Wood, etc unless you think the ZF or E4OD or 4R100 can handle it. Again, I got the build sheet for this. Jump over to the DieselStop.com on this, cause the Ford guys will admit $20K is what it takes. And this is from guys that have been there and done it. (Brian from BTS, Kevin from BWD). I understand you can find used stuff out there, but realisitically, if you go to get this stuff, you are going pay big money.

If there ever comes a real solution to getting a 7.3 to fuel as aggressively as the other engines can then yeah, I see it as a real competitor but I still feel most will go with a CTD or Dmax.

yea, most. and if I were building something to just run high HP and run it down the track it would be a cummins....its very expensive to build a high end 7.3...
HPOP-2000
turbo-3000-3500
rods-2500
injectors-3500ish
intercooler-1200

thats the big stuff...I'd say 20K max to do it....but hey I've never done it and don't plan on it so Im not that worried about it....yea cummins is cheaper doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. but everyones got a F'n dodge and 80% of them all have the same mods so everyone out ther has the same truck....and if you had a 600hp dodge and a 600hp ford the ford would be faster im sure

I could say that same thing for all the lifted Dodges in Utah...

No you are not going to get a sustainable 600 HP truck for $10-15K. It will take close to $20K by the time you are done.

So, added your stuff: $12700. Other costs to get you 600HP that will last...

Exhaust $400
Tuner $300 (possible live tuning session with Jody + dyno run could bring this up a few hundred more dollars)
Guages $300
Intake $200
FASS $600
Rods $400
Machine work: $500 (could be more, this is kinda the middle ground)
Ceramic Coated pistons $500
Girdle $1000
Engine Rebuild Kit $1000 (while you got the whole thing torn apart)
All fluids $300
Going need traction bars $500-600

So, totalling this up, $18700 doing this work yourself. However, with the auto or manual you are going to need to beef it up. For the auto, all good modded trans (BTS, ATS, John Wood, Fabian) come in around $4000 or higher. So, looking at this, about $22,700 or so doing the work yourself. Add about $4000 in labor to take it to a shop and get this done....

[QUOTE=gsbrockman;2084230]A Goodyear Rep and a CITI Financial Rep came into S&S Tire in Lexington Wednesday (where I work). They were essentially promising us how much money we could save on all of our credit card transaction fees......if we switched over to their program.

The CITI guy started talking about his new '08 Ford F-250 6.4L and how he was looking at 4" lifts, 20" wheels, and 35" tires. He later said that he was getting low 20's in mpg's. After a few more statements, he was bragging about all of his hp and torque.

he should be able to afford that because there interest rates are about 24% interest on a personal loan they are ungodly high. you should have thrown a tire at him

I can see a response coming like this Jesse:
You think you have 700hp on an HTS trans and a Smarty?
LOL! Well, even I don't know everything you've got done to that rig

I was looking at bringing some of my own parts (Stealth, Rods, FASS, turbo, intercooler, and injectors) buying some other stuff from BWD, and having them do the work. Overall I was going to save almost $1000 in tax by getting some of these parts delivered to my house (saves tax). After alot of thinking about this I had to give up the dream and spend the money on finishing the basement in my house. Couldn't see investing that amount of money in 6 year old truck.... Wife was not amused either... So now, maybe some twins in the Dodge? We'll see...
