Marinco Block Heater Plug Installation
Marinco Block Heater Plug Installation
I recently purchased the Marinco block heater plug. What other items are needed for the installation on my 05? 2nd question, where can I get them and how much should I expect to spend. Thanks.
If Your Talking about the lil male weather proof plug that mounts on your front bumper, the website GENOS GARAGE has it in the electrical section, goes for about $35 or so, and comes with a little bracket that mounts to your front bumper. Its called the WIGIDIGIT block heater plug. I'll try to post a link below, been a while for me, so I dont know if its gonna work,,,

I bought that connector. Look in my gallery or someone can post the pics (slow connection here in Iraq) and see what I did. I love it and it was way cheaper than the widgit. Same connector actually. I didn't use anything but the plug as far as I remember. Cut the end off the facory cord and wired it up.
good luck
good luck
you don't have to pay 40 bucks for one of those if you go to any boat store like bass pros there like 13-15 bucks and the way they mount is like any electrical explosion proof conduit connector they have the lock ring on the back that screws in. Either front mount by three #6 x 5/8 screws or rear mount by 1½" conduit locknut.

Look sgood, but I just mounted mine below the front license plate. two years as well and never an issue. I like Genos, but that is a ridiculous price for that. I looked through my records and actuall only paid 12.00 shipped for that connector. Plenty of pics in my gallery
I put it to the passenger side of the license plate holder, in the bumper skirt.

I also don't like the idea of drilling a hole or screwing into my bumper. It's gonna rust plenty fast on it's own. This one is rock solid and only cost me for the plug.

I have a 2500 without tow hooks, so I have the plastic covers in place. I think Im gonna get the Marinco plug, and just drill a hole in the pass side cover, and mount it there. Should be solid enough, and Ill save about $22 doing it, But I do like how BMH95 did his, in the side of the plate holder, that will prob be my second option.
Geno's kit has too small a bolt
Besides overpaying I wasted an hour fighting the small bolt, then going to the store to get the proper size faseners.
If you purchase 5/16" bolt with some 3/8 flat washers it holds nice. You might be able to get a 3/8 in there but I ran out of pateince and did not want to spend another $4 on top of the $38.
The other installs look great too.
