One Trick Block Heater Plug
Re:One Trick Block Heater Plug
I ran a 16/3 cord encased in wire loom from the pass side battery area down to a hole in the frame, inside the frame back to the cross member in line with the fuel door, and accross to the fuel door area. I put a 1/2" chase nipple into a hole @10:30 from the fuel cap and ran the cord thru this hole, with a loop hanging down to allow a little slack. Now, I just open my fuel door, and plug in my block heater. It keeps the plug out of the salt, and is located near the drivers door so I can remember to unplug it. So, if I don't blow myself up, life should be a little easier this winter.
Re:One Trick Block Heater Plug
I have devised a foolproof system for this, I put the cord in a spot so I have to almost trip over it to get to the truck. So if I suddenly hit the ground it means that I didn't unplug my truck. Wanna hear a good one ? A certain family member who shall remain nameless forgot to unplug her Mercedes diesel and almost took out the paperboy with a 100 foot cord!

Because I have those occassional bone head moments, I leave a not between the steering wheel and column. Since my `98 is an automatic, I do not have fog lights. So, I broght the cord out through there. It has that little cap for when it is not in use. So, I plug it in and shove it back a bit out of the weather so I do not trip the GFI receptacle.<br>With a 25' orange cord, I hope that I would see it as well. But, well, you never know.
