lift pump
I was thinking to use a set of 12 volt electric fuel pumps made for gasoline engines to pump diesel from the fuel tank to both diesel engines in my boat .
Are the gasoline pumps going to survive diesel oil ?
Or am I better off with so called diesel pumps ?
I found that the gasoline pumps are much cheaper ,or is that for a reason?
thanks A.J

mount them low so they have a good head, and remove the brass screens in the pump housing, (they can get clogged easily with cold fuel) then shim the regulator spring with at least a .040" shim washer to provide good psi, no problem. I use the larger housing "Black Holleys" under my truck and they hum along endlessly without issue cold or hot.
I have two Yanmars 6LY2A,s with 440 hp/at 3300 rpm a piece ,these are 5,8 L 6 cilinder inline 2 valve ,s with a line pump,they have 880lbs/ft a piece ,and use 90 Litre /hour (24 gallon/hr) full throttle.
I am going to turn up the fuel at the pumps and hope to reach about 500 hp a piece ,so I guess 28 gal/hr ???
thanks A.J
