I am still in the process of putting a 10" sub in the center counsil in the cubby hole. And the amp will be under the drivers seat since the pass has a jack under it.

JL Audio has a stealth 10" 10w3 dual voice coil; box for around 375-450 that fits under one side of the back seat and sounds excellent. I am running two 10w3v2 under my seat. The only thing is the loss of storage. Other than that for the time being I am running it off of the stock head unit with a seperate amp.

I would like to see the pictures of the Center console enclosure. I know JL used to do them for the 1st and 2nd gen trucks, but not for the new ones.

I just put an 8" under my center seat. The cubby was the perfect volume for the sub, it adds plenty of bass to the stock system. I quite often find myself turning it down on certain songs.

The jack is easy to move. I had to mount my front speakers amp under the passenger seat because my driver's seat had a JL 1000/1 in the way.

the infinity sound is not high end but for stock it is pretty decent. anybody who says it is crap is not comparing it to OEM systems. I had the mach 460 in my stang and it was crap compared to the infinty I ditched it asap.

I added two tens in the MTX thunderform because I ended up getting the nav and figured I would try subs first before I upgraded everthing.

the factory speakers try to reproduce too much low frequency. I added a couple a 470uF caps in line with the front door speakers after I added the subs to cross over their bass output.

My wife is plenty happy with the setup. I am content with it for now. getting to the amp to add the line converter was a *****. I had to tear half the dash out. there is 12V up at the amp for remote and you must use the front door speakers to drive the amp as the rears do not have enough power as I found out the hard way.

You're right. I'm comparing it to a $120 head unit and $75 speakers, which is LESS than the upgrade price for the infinity system. It's like comparing Chihuahua crap to St. Bernard crap. One might be easier to clean up than the other, but neither really belongs on the kitchen floor. So it is with stock stereos... they're all crap and none belongs in my truck!

Does anyone know the wiring color code for the infinity sound system. I am looking to install a DVD player in the dash, replacing the factory head unit. From what I understand you have to by pass the factory amp. Where is this amp located and how hard is it to get at? My truck is 2004

you can find the manual online. if you cant pm and I will try to send you those pages.

the amp is right behind the glovebox and I would assume someone would make an adapter to allow input to to the amp.

rca's from a deck have a certain level of output if you knew the level of input for the infinity amplifier you may be able to convert the rca output of the deck to the infintiy amp.

basically you run into an issue of you can't overdive an amp or you will blow it up. if you underdrive an amp you will get poor output. this is what the gain control does on a aftermarket amp is match the input level of the amp. the gain doe not make the amp more powerful. on this infinity amp there will be no gain so you need to give it the signal it needs. if you do enough research I would think you could find a way. the easiers way is just buy some refurbished amp off ebay for like $100. you can get mtx refurbs off there so cheap and they come with 90 waranty right through mtx. I think people sell kicker amps like that on there two. I work in electronics so I love refurbes. if something will last 90 days it will usually last years and they are like 1/3rd of retail. the waranty is not through the ebay seller either it is right from the manufacturer so you don't have to worry about something being DOA.
