three tweeters in the dash in addition to the normal speakers in the doors. All the speakers are upgraded (better than the non-infinity stock but worse than aftermarket Infinity) and there is an amp in the dash to up the power output. If you want to put an aftermarket stereo you have to bypass the factory amp.

Are you sure about that? I helped our son put a head unit in his Dakota and the instructions included provisions for the amp. I didn't look into it too much because his doesn't have the Infinity option anyhow.
I replaced my stock non Infinity speakers with a set of Infinity Reference speakers from Circuit City. They sound great even without an amp. I don't have the Infinity option... So I did my own.

the stock amp is not compatible with an aftermarket head unit in a 3rd gen ram. it has different inputs from the aftermarket unit and will either not work at all or live a very short life.

I'm very happy with my Infinity system but I did add a subwoofer to it. The factory Inifinity system uses a small amp to drive the speakers in the doors. It uses Can bus digital signals so I don't believe you can change the head unit and still use the factory amp. The factory door speakers are 2 ohm speakers and can't be replaced with standard aftermarket speakers while still using the factory amp. I think ,overall, my system sounds impressive to most people that ride in my truck. Most people are suprised to see the stock head unit and hear such good sound. And its loud!

I ran for so long w/out a radio in my old truck that I hardly turn on the new one. I just listen to the engine and keep grinnin. Not infinity system. The sound does lack quality.

Where are you guys putting the subs at? I have looked all over and don't think that I have a good place to put one or two. Does anyone have any pics of system installs?

Under the back seat is a good place for a sub. The SRT has a 10" sub that is included in the price of the vehicle. I am sure you can order it from Dodge. It even has it own amp and cross over.

Also, Yes you can run an aftermarket stereo through the factory infinity amp and not have any problems.

Unfortunately for the money spent on th infinity sound system you caould have ended up with a superb sounding after market system for the same money.

Sorry guys the Oem infinity is dissapointing! But I'm not about to spend big $$$ on high end stuff. Besides I'm near deaf in the left ear and cannot hear out of my right! Too many loud concerts as a kid I guess!

I'm just not impressed with the infinity package at all!

Dodge has a huge pro with the Infinity systems failing. They usually have a three day turn around on them.
