"how-to" for oil bypass
ok I know I ran across a thread a while ago on a DIY oil bypass system but I search and can't ever find anything. Anybody know that link. I know the amsoil is fairly cheap but I have the resources to build my own and alot of the hose and fittings already. Its mostly just a filter a bracket and lines but I dont know what to buy?

Is this the one? https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...light=oil+pass If you look into the thread there is a homemade bracket and several mounting locations shown.

DIY spin on system - Baldwin OB1305 filter head w B50 or B164 filter. I had my own hoses made at the local hydrolic shop and used an Amsoil valve cover cap for the return line. Very easy Very simple. Seems to work just fine.

Bypass Filter
Hey Tristan21,
OilGuard has a new setup for the Dodge Cummins. Go to their web site and select 5.9 Dodge Cummins. The new part number is (EPS-20 DCE). This kit has the bracket and all of the fittings. All you have to do is install it on your truck. I run an OilGuard on my truck and have had no problems with it.

the hoses syndicate mentioned are good up to several thousand psi they are cheap and will not wear into mount the filter on the frame or fender, i solder a copper disk in a 1/8" swivel and drill a 0.065" hole in it then screw that into the top of existing filter housing cummins says not to exceed 0.078" the filters i use were made for larger trucks and equipment and the orifice is to large i think the one he suggested uses a 1/16" if it does it is perfect run the bypass filter until it clogs up the dirtier a filter is the better it filters

I am not sure about the B50, but the B164 is only 15 microns absolute, so not bypass quality.

B50 is a shorter version of the B164. Many people are using them in a DIY by-pass setup. True the dont filter as well as the TP filters do but they do filter much better than just a full flow stock filter will. I am using one simply to double the kms between oil changes. The B50 has a built in restriction (1/16'') so no need for the copper disk. I think I have approx$55 bucks in the setup plus the amsoil cap.

ther has been a guy on ebay that sells the b50 filter with filter head and hose and fittings for less than $50 that is where I got mine and has been great. Extended oil changes out to 10,000 with good reports through Blackstone Labs. Did search under ebay for "oil Bypass"

Check these things out. Centrifuge filters do a excellent job of removing soot at a sub micron range. I have the Centriguard but did not install it yet. Spring and Summer usually have me tied up so it may be a while yet.

i do not like to mount a by pass filter on the motor the vibration is to much i am going to try a centriguard also . the only place that i can think of to mount it is on the headache rack to make it work properly , i have several by pass filters mounted there it does not look bad and is easy to service i think i can go in the 2ond oil return plug and not drop the pan

From what I have read the B50 filters at 2 mic @ 98.75% so that would mean 74 out of 75 particles get filtered out. Sounds good to me. I have had it on now for 3-4000 kms so far. Im goin to change the oil soon. On the next oil fill I will send in some samples to monitor things.
