Does anyone have any ideas about where to mount Amsoil BMK - 15Ea
Dual Remote ByPass System? If at all possible, some pictures would be nice.
2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins.

i would trade the bmk- 15 in for a bmk11 mount it on the frame behind the cab

I've got mine mounted on the passenger side firewall just next to the trans dipstick. I made a mounting plate out of some 1/8" sheet metal. the filter ends up about 8" above the turbo and about 6" away from the exhaust manifold. I have checked it to make sure that it doesnt' get overly hot from being located there and it doesn't.

New Question: does a bypass filter actually clean better or does it just give better access to the filter for changing?

I put mine behind the ft. bumper , I've seen some that use just the by pass single and put behind wheel well .
The by pass does filter more , depending on who's you've been using [ 7 -20 micron ] by pass 2 micron .
This is a picture of my Amsoil 15-40w marine oil , had 4,200 miles on the oil when I installed the Amsoil Dual By Pass 15Ea , the picture is after driving / filtering for 100 miles .

Cleans better. The bypass filters down to 2 microns, whereas the stock full flow filter only filters to around 30 microns. The bypass systems leave the stock filter in place to catch the big particles. Here's a few pic's of where I mounted mine.

Mine's mounted the same way as *******'s. You'll have to make the bracket it's about 6" out and 6" up.

I went and looked at the BKE11... and is there any reason (other than the obvious ease) for placing the return in the cap instead of the oil pan itself?

That's it...a LOT easier than dropping the pan and drilling it!

Easier, and it provides a sampling point... And you dont have to punch a hole in your oil pan...


Ditch the BMK-15 for the BMK 11... The 15 isn't compatible with the HPCR Cummins....

Is that right on top of the stock oil filter?

I'm pretty sure that is 04.5 and newer HPCR's. The Amsoil website says 2004 and newer. I don't necessarily agree with the choice either. From reading the forums a few years back, most guys running dual bypass were running the BMK-13. Once they figured out that the dual bypass had issues (I believe it ws oil pressure issues) in the 04.5 and newer, they were recommending the BMK-11.
