Help with speed limiter and shift points
I currently have TST and run it on 4/4. I want a box to stack on that will not cost a fortune and get rid of speed limiter and give me the ability to change shiftpoints on my automatic tranny. I'm told the new superchips box will do this. Does any body know how well they work on 2005 truck.
I believe the Superchips for the Cummins is pretty new so nobody has tried it yet. Looks like it's your turn to be the guinea pig....
I don't think you get the ability to change shift points with the Superchips or Hypertech boxes made for the Dodge trucks. Something in the computer won't let them do it....
There are plenty of boxes you can stack with the TST though....

I believe Dodgezilla is correct. The 48RE trans in our trucks is just not that sophisticated to do this, even though aftermarket software actually is. It really comes down to a valve body upgrade. This will definitely alter your shift points if you are in the throttle. Normal driving will be the same. Almost the best of everything.
I have a Suncoast valvebody and at WOT it shift just short of the red zone of tach. I find that the truck actually runs faster if you lift off throttle a little to allow it to shift early. I really need to do the maual lock up modification but figured the same box that disables the speed limiter might do some of the other stuff.

The top speed eliminator from BD Power does eliminate the defueling in my 03! She slams into gear if I hammer it. Ask AK RAM. He gained 2 tenths in the quarter mile with it.. His is an 03 SO too...
no 6 oh no-
Not all 05s defuel, I can build any amount of boost I want at the line and it will not defuel
I guess I'm just lucky. As for a BD box, it will fix defueling problems on 03+04 but on the 04.5 and newer it will only help with the top speed.

The early 05's react a whole lot different than the late ones. Mine is a late 05. It defuels under 12 psi of boost, it defuels at WOT, defuels on shifts. At 5 mph I can roast the tires off, at 0 it will not move off the line or pull thru the brakes.
MasonicDodge, are you staying that you can stand on the throttle and the brake and the truck pull thru the brakes, spin the tires and rev over 1200 rpms? What is your truck's build date and what have you done to get it to do this? C'mon give it up so the rest of us can play too?
Another solution would be give Dave Goerend a call. I have it on good authority he has a build that will eliminate a lot of these annoying problems.
The 03's don't have any TQ management or defueling to speak of. The only limiting on them was the top speed.
I can bring my 04.5 up to any boost at the line. Usually about 20psi if the track is in good shape and when I leave it goes instantly to 42psi. My tranny shifts at 3000rpm and doesn't defuel.
I have a friend with a 05 that is identical to the color to my 04.5 and his torque management won't let him build much boost at the line and he is having a time getting his tranny to shift like he wants.

I have no defueling issues at all. I can launch at any boost I want but I don't go over 20psi so I won't hurt my tranny.
My truck was built 9/04 and I found another ECU that was built 4 days before mine was. It was on EBAY and came off a CTD that was totaled on the way to the dealer, so it only has the factory 25 miles on it
The other ECU is sitting on the floor in my garage saying "be nice to me some might need me one day"
