I just pulled the old filter out and put the new one in (WIX p/n 33585). I tried to screw it back down and it wouldn't catch the threads. I pulled it back out and compared it to the old filter and the old filter is about 1/2 in, or maybe a little less, shorter than the new one! I called O'reilly's to get them to double check the p/n and it matches for 03-07. I don't know what to do. Has anyone ran into this before?

 

Go to another part store, have them cross reference the pn and compare their filter with yours. I personally deal with NAPA and haven't had an issue.

 

Thanks. Ok, well I'm an idiot! It turns out the plastic peice that clips into the cap to hold the filter in had broken off and stuck to the cap without me knowing and made it to where it was too tall. Its in and runing now. Thanks

 

I use the fleetguard filters just like what came in the truck from the factory. I buy them by the case at a local "big truck" dealer.

 

Baldwins filter is a 5 micron in the stock filter housing. Fleetguard is a 7 I believe.
