fuel filter problems
fuel filter problems
I have a 1999 and the rubber grommet where the black and red wires are coming out of is leaking. I called dodge to buy the top of the filter housing and they don't sell it any more they will sell you a retro kit that changes it from my style to the 03 and newer for 1,100 dollars. does anyone know where I can get this part or how I can fix it? thanks for the help
I just had this problem and there IS a really cheap fix. First off, that is a plastic plug with a single o-ring. You can get o-rings from any NAPA or equivelant parts store. I think it's a #8 or #10, not sure.
1. Remove fuel filter canister and filter.
2. Remove banjo bolts.
3. Disconnect wire harness from heater element. Then remove wires from heater-side of connector.
4. Remove two bolts attaching housing to engine and remove housing.
5. Remove the TORX screws attaching element to housing.(screws are on the underside of housing.
6. Push (black) plastic plug out through the bottom of the housing.
7. At this point you will see a flat, cracked o-ring. Carefully remove it and go get one that fits.
If you have any problems, PM me and I'll help you through the process..
