Mine is a Quad and it works good. They are only needed above ~32psi - that's where the ecm starts defueling... so I've read. I would say, if you can hit 32psi and still have a lot of throttle left, you can probably use one but you have to have a turbo/wastegate capable of > 32psi to gain anything. I think I'm right on this! Craig

It will also keep you from setting a check engine light from overboost. Then the truck will go into a defuel mode until the code is cleared.
On a truck with stock programming it isn't likely that you will need one. You don't have the extra fuel to need the extra boost.

i`m just on a tight budget ...
i will keep it in mind for down the road...any thoughts on quadzilla Xzillaraider? Maybe i should just same some bucks & wait to get a smarty Jr. or something. I just cannot afford to get into a situation where i have to replace my tranny.

save for the tranny anything program wise will kill your tranny if you get happy. i put mine off for a year and for the first month i said my tranny is good its okay well i started to crank the pmt to the max then got the crazy larry and my tranny went out 90 miles from home on the freeway. dont be fooled hp is worse then crack one hit and you want more and more. the only reason i say save is the tranny is such a huge cost to come up with if you dont have the cash saved and if it does go your stuck no matter what programmer you have. just my .03

yea man its hard to come up the money for a built tranny its one of the biggest expences for our trucks unless you do something realy stupid like im about to do with twins. i was lucky i spent a few years in the sand box and put my cash away so when she did blow i still had enough cash to cover 90% of my cost the rest went on plastic. which i paid off but if you cant man that intrest will kill you and now is not a good time to be holding high balances on plastic.

cp3 mod is a good start im not saying dont buy a box or anything just know the temptation to crank it up will be very strong and it realy hurts when your truck is dead and you cant afford to buy a built tranny. someone will chime in a intake is good intake manifold is good not to expensive but not a huge hp gain for the money spent. a vb for the tranny is good also.

I would at least do a valve body upgrade and torque converter. Then you can push a little power.
I still think the best mod I have done to my truck has been the tranny. It makes the truck into a whole new animal.

I invested in a Quadzilla boost fooler, $25 off of Fleabay. Not any great difference that you can feel on a stock truck. It seems to help out acceleration at freeway speeds when I need to floor it and don't get a downshift.
