I am starting to see alot of these trucks dumping the exhaust infront of or ON the rear tire....this is OK for gassers but these diesels can generate tons of heat....and it comes out that hole pointed at the rear tire!!!

Last year I bought a 38.5ft weekend warrior and the first trip out to the desert the exhaust from my STOCK 04.5 warped the fiberglass storage door and melted the RUBBER seal until it was leaking down the side....and I'm sure that the trailer was further from my exhaust that your tire is...

 

I installed the rokktech muffler last night. It doesn't have that choppy exhaust note like the aero muffler I was running. It is a little louder than stock (especially in the lower rpms), then it quiets down at about 1500 rpm. It has a nice mellow smooth growl. It's not noticeable on the freeway until you get on it... Even then, not loud at all. Out of all of the mufflers i've heard, it sounds most like a big rig to me. I'm pretty pleased.

 

Lose the muff.... any good muffler shop can cut it off and replace with a piece of 4" for $50-$60 out the door...

i have not had any of my tire melt, the only bad part is the soot on the outside of my tire and rim, but i will be taking my wheels to the powdercoater, bead blast them and powder coat them black and the problem will be fixed.
