If you want loud then go 5" from turbo back to the end of the cab and put a tip that goes at a angle out the side.

For loud, the shorter and larger it is the louder it will be. How 'bout a 90 degree bend out of the turbo up through the hood, puller style? That oughta be loud enough for ya! ;D

My 3" stock exhaust (muffler MIA) is loud as that "firey place down below" when I have my box turned up. So just lose the muffler and add more fuel, you'll have plenty of noise. ;D
I have enough to worry me when I pass and officer of the peace. :

Chris

4" straight piped dumped by the rear axle is extremely loud. Straight 4" downpipe is really loud. Doesn't sound good though. I plan on going with dual 5" side pipes later on down the road. Straight piped of course. ;D

5 inch from the downpipe back is pretty loud. I had to put a muffler on mine because it was so loud that it shook the back glass. But if you want loud 5 inch is the way to go. Why are you getting rid of your stacks.

Got Smoke,

You won't see too much of a voulme difference betwen pipe sizes. It's mostly a tonal difference and diffrent tones are perceived as louder or softer volume. The 5 inch is going to be a bit "boomey" for some folks, we sell a lot of our 4 inch systems with a muffler delete pipe and customers love it, no drone either by the way for the customers weve heard back from.

Mark @ DPPI

I vote 5". My neighbor, with a 3406 equipped KW dump truck with 8" straight stacks, says my truck is too loud.

I heard an 03 today with an exhaust. SD, you know the black one over by DixieLandDelight? It sounded alright. Didn't get to really hear it though. I was jamming in the Burban.

Both My friend and I have 02's. He has a 4 inch and I have a 5 inch exhaust. His has a nice deep growl with a little bit of bite. Mine has a deeper tone but is very raspy almost too much. Now that I have Twins the raspy sound is gone and now I have a nice deep tone. I also have a muffler, without the muffler that 5 inch IMO would be way to obnoxious.

Fred
