MPG questions + a couple others -

I'm looking at purchasing an '08 Quad cab Dually, 4x2, short bed, 6.7, Auto.

It's between that or a similarly set up Ford.

My questions are:

What sort of mpg's can be expected in heavy, in town traffic with no load?
What sort of mpg's can be expected on the interstate at 70mph, again no load?
What sort of mpg's can be expected on the interstate at 65mph, with a 5th wheel, 13,000 lbs?

Thanks in advance.

It will be better than the Ford will get!! I know a guy with an 08 Ford dually and he is getting about 8-10 mpg max. He hates it!!!

In the Dodge, you will probably get 12-14 city and 15-18hwy. Towing will probably be in the 8-9 mpg range. These would all hopefully get better as the engine breaks in....

How many miles on yours? I was getting that, too, at the begining but now at just over 3,000 miles I am up to 15 in city and 18 on the highway. No towing yet. That will be the first of May when we take the camper out.

I like to punch it when getting on the highway.....just for fun.

Most are saying 18-19 hwy and 14 in the city but you all have 4x4, Orange Bandit wants a 4x2 and they get a little better MPG. One thing though Orange Bandit, you can not get a quad cab short bed dually, you would have to get the mega cab for a short bad and they get a little less MPG (not that much though if you need or like that much room ).

I get hand figured 15.99, city/hwy. At 65, get 17-18.5, go up to 70, drops to 12.6-15, maybe. this is empty mpg. I towed my 12000+ 5th wheel, just to see how it pulled it, for about a 15 mile haul, everytime I looked at the overhead, it was at 8-9 mpg, I'm hoping for at least 10 mph hauling. Other then that, it pulls good, but sits in my garage alot more then the 05 dually I had. Oh ya this is a 08 3500 dually, all stock.

I will be making my first tow next weekend. I will be towing a 2700lb car on an open trailer. So guessing just a tad over 4000lbs. How much you think it will effect my MPG. Right now I only have 500miles on the truck and I am seeing about 15mpg with mostly city driving.

Mileage

I just got back from a weekend camping trip to the Land Between the Lakes in KT. Total miles was 930.1 and used 85.85 Gallons this worked out to 10.8 avg. I had low of 9.8 against a head wind and a high of 12.2 no wind. Iam pulling a 10 k 5er.

I get 15-17 running around town. On the road I get 18.5-20.1 with cruise on at 72-74 MPH. I live in SOCAL so it's mostly flat. Put 2 MC's in back for a 1200 mile road trip, averaged >18.5.

Stock with 14k miles
