Road Armor (or others) questions........

I've thought about putting a Road Armor bumper on the truck. I've got a question though and need to get some opinions. I have a Carli 3" lift on the truck with King 2.5's. Roughly, how much will the bumper weigh the front end down? Is it something that a 1" or 2" spacer could/would fix?

Also, I am looking at the base winch bumper and the winch bumper with the pre-runner guard. Can't make up my mind. Any opinions?

Stealth Base (on Old Smokey's truck):

Pre-Runner Style (on Bikinaz's truck):

the road armors are pretty light, compared to some others. you may not get any noticeable front end sag at all. even though i have the base winch bumper, i think i like the pre-runner better.

bumper

I have the Road Armor clone, as you have pictured, by JD. http://www.jddistributing.com/site/1320111/page/45029
I also have a ramsey 8500 winch. So, i went to the JD website and found that the bumper weights 160 pounds and then went to the Ramsey site and found the weight of the winch, add some for the Line-X coating, lights and figured a combined weight of ~250 pounds.

I like my bumper. I would like to know how far that much weight on the nose depresses the spring height.

Hope that helps.

Shouldn't make a difference. I have the Ranch Hand bumper which makes my truck nose-heavier than the ayatollah, but I don't notice any sag.

easy, just get one of your larger buddies to sit on your bumper and measure.

I like both styles but am leaning towards the pre-runner style. Has Road Armor improved their delivery times?

I was worried about that too but it doesnt pull the frount end down much at all. I went with the base because they were having a sale on them and they were $600 cheaper.

I don't know, but I sure hope so. The guy I talked to seemed real nice and helpful. He assured me that he could ship whichever one I wanted from his Florida location within a couple weeks. Don't know the truth to that though. I've heard of some long waiting times with Road Armor.

I've been meaning to ask you if you had RA powdercoat the bumper or if you had it done locally? In order to get their current sale prices, the bumper has to be ordered raw. I've got no problem at all with that though. I can't decide if I want it powdercoated matte black or sprayed with line-x.

I was going to get one of their bumpers but when I heard about the long delivery times I decided to wait and see if things worked out, hopefully they have, keep us posted if you do order one. On the type of coating, if you powder coat it and don't like it you could just line-x over it but I don't think it would be as easy to go the other way.

Mine came powdercoated. Im getting a few spots where a little rust is showing through from rock chips. I dont think their powdercoater is the greatest. If you have a choice line-x it or have someone paint it.

Thanks for the info. I have the choice, so I'll prob just get it powdercoated locally. I want it matte black instead of gloss black to match my wheels anyways if I go that route. Line-x would be the best option for protection; I'm just unsure of how it would look.

I looked at the Ranch Hands but I'm just not a big fan of the diamond plate bumpers. I prefer regular steel. However that particular Ranch Hand doesn't look too bad at all.
