Im new..so about P2262?

hello everyone, im new here but i have been learning a little about the p2262 code. The dealership will be installing a new turbo on my 08 mc in the morning. I guess the two big questions are what if anything is dodge doing to fix the real problem, and how can i protect myself in the future. The truck has a lot of work done but just exterior and interior is that just money lost if it comes down to a lemon law.

I just got this same code along with a P0137 on my way home from work. The truck still runs great though.

The P2262 code has something to do with the turbo getting clogged up due to the particulate filter. Dodge's fix for this code is to drill a hole in the turbo and try to clean it. In my case that didn't work and they decided to replace the whole turbo, but that doesn't fix the problem with the filter.

I drove all the way to work this morning (almost 30 miles) with the gear selector in the "4" position with the EB on and in Tow/Haul. Most of the way I was taching around 2300 rpms but there were a couple times when I was closer to 3000rpms. I was working that E-Brake too lifting my foot and accelerating and then lifting my foot again. I don't know if this will help me any but if so then I will be doing this at least one day a week from now on. I just really hate the hassles of going to the dealerships...

DZ my good friend who has worked as a diesel tech for Dodge since 94' told me to use the exhaust brake all the time. He said to keeps the turbo from better carbon build up. BUT I have ha others disagree with me when I tell them this. BUT again I have used his advice and not ha one problem to date with 7300+ now on the clock.

Yeah I heard that too and have always used the EB everytime I started the truck. It is still running perfectly fine right now too.

My EB has been on for every one of my 23000+ miles. My first p2262 came on at 20600. It was taken to the dealership for the first "fix" at 21800 where they reflashed and performed a mobile desoot. The p2262 came back on at 22100. The truck was taken to the dealership for the second "fix" at 22900 where they tapped and flushed the turbo. I haven't seen the p2262 yet since getting the truck back but fully expect to before the end of this tank of fuel. About 45% of the miles logged on this truck have been pulling a trailer.

i have had this problem too many times to count. The first time it happened was at 9500 and the dealer said it was the wastegate actuator and it was replaced, fine until 19000 when i started getting the code about once a week. It would go off after the 4th time starting the truck, no change in performance. I finally brought it in two days ago and they decided to change the turbo, got it back today and the idiots at the dealsership didnt connect one of the hoses to the turbo so the truck is slower than you could imagine with no boost. Can't tell you if the new turbo worked yet though, have to find a new dealership now though

I found this article on Turbo Diesel Register. It has some very interesting discussion about the 6.7L engine and various issues. This is a must read!

Reading that article was infuriating. If the paraphrasing of the author is an accurate portrayal of Chryslers stance on this new platform as a whole, then this is my LAST Chrysler product, ever. Their responce to the fact that these trucks "make" oil and it is a well documented occurance? You are overfilling at oil change. Their responce to the p2262? A complete divergence going off about how emissions work. At the end? Drive hard. This makes it sound like they aren't even THINKING of a way to permanently fix the p2262 problem. I expect this kind of ignorance from the service counter at my local dealership but NOT from the engineers that put this "best in class this, super that" machine to market.

The only thing i pulled from that article other than a record-high peak in my blood pressure is that there is another flash for the 07.5 trucks. The chart lists the latest at AY.

....which finally opened your eyes to the fact that some issues CANNOT be repaired at the dealer level.

Nor, apparently, at the factory or even engineering level. Since Chrysler/Cummins isn't willing to admit there is a problem, I am forced to devise my own solution, one less warranty and emissions friendly. Truck runs great now, better than it ever has before. I would like to dump an entire cargo plane of p2262 all over the CEO of Chrysler's home.
