clutch burned up
clutch burned up
I haven't driven my 6.7 in almost a month, it has been sitting in the yard awaiting repurchase. I posted a thread a while back about noise/vibration at idle. It also had excessive drivetrain slack, like the whole truck shook and made noise under clutch engagement, both since the day I drove it off the lot. Went to move it the other day, spun in the mud a little (bald tires) tried rocking it in 4L and the clutch smoked. So whoever offered advice in the previous thread about there being something wrong with the clutch was right. MIL didn't come on in the 30 seconds I ran it, I shouldn't complaint too much.
God I hate this thing
figured a little fair and balanced reporting was due with everyone singing the 6.7's praises lately.

this engineering marvel also sports a $5 rattlecan paintjob on the front bumper if you want to get real critical

I had no factor in this truck's demise, it was garbage as soon as it was driven off the lot.
who said they were the original tires? I put the new wheels and tires on my trade, put my 35s on the new truck. once I settled with Chrysler I found a set of 4 bald oem BFGs, mounted them on a set of rims I had laying around and threw them on, thinking the buyback would be a relatively time-efficient process.

clarification: I traded an 04 on an 07 and switched the tires, bumpers and a few other things with the full knowledge and consent of the selling dealer. when I signed the papers on the 07, the new tires, laramie bumper, were not on the truck. this was long ago. doubting Chrysler wanted the truck back on 35s and given the overall mechanical condition of the truck, I did not think tire tread depth was going to make or break the buyback decision.
it also has no spare tire

recap: I sign my life away on a new truck, new truck had:
MIL x15
bad flywheel/clutch
no brakelights
honestly I'd dump water in the engine before I give it back if it weren't so detrimental to the younger generation

I have not spoken to one owner (in real life) that has anything good to say about the 6.7 other than the power. no kids, no one stole anything, c'mon. keep this on topic. this is a thread about an 07 G56 clutch that let go at 5K because it was defective from the factory, a problem I realized and DTR members helped diagnose very early on. if you're going to discount what I say then put me on your ignore list. if this truck moved under its own power I'd offer to let you take it for a drive, might change your tune
Just trying to be fair and balanced. I know personally of at least 6 of my friends who own trucks with the 6.7 engines in them and not a single complaint that was not handled by the competent dealers around here. I still think your problems were dealer issues and not the trucks. It is not that I discount what you say but there needs to be balance.
I must have missed it but if the buy back happened why hasn't DC showed up with a tow truck to take it away?

suprised I haven't heard from the state or the lienholder over cancelling the insurance.

i love my 6.7... i hate the mileage but the truck is awesome... oh yea well there was this one time that I found oil in the intake tube down by the turbo.. oh yea that was yesterday.... Well anyways I would not have another 5.9 simply due to the power difference and the 6 spd auto... Sucks about your truck but if I had your luck I would probably do the same... As a matter of fact I would take it down to the dealership and SET IT ON FIRE!!!!
Oh yea and as to the whole guy insulting you and trying to get "balance"... I would personally like to appoligize for his actions.. Unfortunately if your put dogs in a dog house one is bound to be "DE DE DE".....

Also I must be an old fart because I have no clue what your dog reference means. Also since you say love your truck in this thread, why have you posted that you are thinking about going Lemon on it. Oh well I guess it is what ever way the wind is blowing.
Sorry to here about your truck troubles.
I have also had transmission troubles with my truck. Making noise almost from day one. It was replaced with a brand new one (I demanded new not rebuilt) and a new clutch. DC wanted the old tranny sent back to be inspected, the dealer said they found metal filings and pitting of the gears.
Almost 15,000 on the new one and no problems. I have not had any of the emission troubles some are having and really like the truck.
I also believe the Dealership you are using could have done a much better job for you.

I work for a Dodge dealership and I see emission problems with 6.7 everyday. Mostly because people that own these trucks idle them too long. Traffic and short runs can cause problems too.
I can't argue about the power the 6.7 has, it just depends on when the truck wants to use it!
It seems like 75% of the time it just dosen't run with all the snap the it has some times, the same with pulling it pulls good some times and dosen't most of the time. Oh yea 12 mpg empty is really uncalled for. While I am raving about it I believe that I will mention the comfort of the cab, I am 6' 5" and 275# and the steering wheel I think is to close and a pain to get in and out without dragging a leg inbetween it and the seat, plus I have to sit around the door column. It does have more actual leg room than the 2nd gen but for me a pain getting in and out. The tranny has made some noise a time or two but no real screw ups except that it hangs in reverse a lot and is hard to get out of like it is in a bind. I guess that I should have gotten a Auto cause that is what most people on here rave about, along a few that have the G56. I am sorry but I am disappointed in my truck, but I am stilla cummins fan, just not the 6.7.
