09 Front Suspension

I was looking at the 2009 dodge ram and it looks like they are getting rid of the solid front axle. So I was just wanting to know if this true or was I missing something on their website?

The Ram 1500 has had IFS since 2002... the HD Rams do not have IFS.

I know that pre-09 trucks have solid axles, but the picture of the 09 trucks on Dodge's website looks like this under the HD section

Suspension

Ram is built to be durable from the ground up with a coil-over shock double-wishbone independent front suspension for a smooth ride that has been tested on over two million miles of road. Out back, a solid rear axle with a longitudinally mounted leaf spring design from Hotchkiss provides massive support. High strength steel rear leaf springs, mounted directly over the rear axle, increase ground clearance, offering greater off-road capability. Staggered Bilstein® monotubed shocks help reduce axle wrap and wheel hop that can occur under certain acceleration and towing conditions.

Also, notice the five lugs in that picture.

Didn't notice the five lugs.
It is weird that dodge would post that picture in the HD section.

Oh well. I am glad that they are staying with the solid front axle.

I don't find anything you see on the web to be all that strange... lots of junk floating around even on sites you think should have their business in order.

Lets hope they don't switch to IFS for the 2500/3500 line.

the thing that caught my eye about that quote is that the 1500's dont have leaf springs in the rear, they have coil springs. SOOOO either the had a typo there AND put it in the wrong section OR the double-whishbone is only for 2x4s, OR just bc you have spy photos, doesnt mean that is the complete product meaning it could still get double wishbone up front......

They're clearly talking about the 4x2 trucks... the 2009 HD's are essentially the same as a 2008 HD. The expected 2010 HD's will not have IFS on the 4x4's... the spy shots clearly show that.

As for the pictures on dodge.com... they just threw things together... one of the photos in the 2500/3500 section clearly shows a 2008 Ram 1500... it sticks out badly with its 5 bolt axles and RAM badge on the front door. The other brake photo describing the 13.9" brakes also show the 5 bolt hub found on a 1500.
