what would you do?

Im in a sucky position right now. I'm going to trade in my trake for a new or used QC LB truck. I have the auto right now but really wanting the 6-speed. The dealer has 2 6-speeds on the lot new and a used 05 auto on the lot. the 6-speeds are both SLTs and the auto is a laramie with ALL the goodies... GPS, Serius radio, and all that other electric junk. but the nice part about it is it already has a spray in liner and a gooseneck hitch. The laramie is 1,000$ more than the new 6-speeds but that just more than covers the cost of putting in my hitch and liner, step bars, mud flaps blah blah blah on a new one. choices suck. my biggest question also is would i be better off letting the G56 tranny be out on the market for a little longer to see how its doing and just get the 48re or will the G56 be a pretty stout tranny. Of course i do a lot of towing and thats another reason i want the 6-speed. Just a little worried about the new G56 since it just came out, but not to crazy about getting another auto either, but with the deal on this laramie at the dealership it might be hard to pass up...

just kinda curious to see what other would do in this crazy stupid postion im in...

wow im too young to be buyin 2 new trucks before the age of 21! oh well i only grow up once... thanks guys and gals

HMMMM I'd take the new 6spd warranty and all unless they are willing to give you 10k off the price of the Laramie! Play both options against each other and see what you get!!

Get what you really want. If your want a Laramie with a manual just use the dealer search on the dodge website or have your local dealer do it for you.
Don't have much information on the G56 but I would think it's probably ok if you're not planning on bombing the truck. Bombing, get the NV5600.

You might also look at the numbers from the financing perspective. What would your monthly payment be on one as opposed to the other. If you could get the 05 with 0 percent financing it may be cheaper. If you're not going to buy new I would look around a little more for a deal on a used one since dealer lots should be full of used ones with all the employee pricing.

Thanks guys, i forgot to mention the one new one has the NV-5600 in it but has a knock sound to it. my dads company 05 cummins has the same knock sound and i hear others on this site with it. has anyone diagnosed it yet? i would deffinately have the dealer look at it before selling it but they are just gonna tell me what they told my dad "it needs to be run hard"

Personally, I was the same as you, two brand new pickups before I was 20. I would stick with the truck you have. It's another world when you don't have any payments. In my mind new truck = new problems. Not that I will never buy another new truck, but you already have an '03. Do you really need a newer one? Why go backwards on your payments when you could have the one you're driving right now paid for in a year or so from right now? Are you concerned about the 48RE or do you really just want a QC?

i really need a QC. so many times that i could have used more seating space. i guess i am a little concerned with the auto, i would love to add a small box and things and not have to worry about the auto which is why i like the 6-speed. i guess i like the idea of the laramie already having everything i need plus more (goosneck, liner, bars and goodies) and later down the road i can always upgrade the auto... but i know i am limited on boxes especially with a newer truck (stock) that has more power than i have now. but i may not need a box it just depends on how it pulls my trailers. anything has to be better than my SO.
thanks everyone for all the opinions this really helps in my decision. keep em coming.
