Truck Died-Leaking Fuel When Cranking
Last night (luckily right by my house) my 2006 died while I was driving it. There was a strong smell of fuel. When I got out I was dripping fuel from the back of the motor somewhere. It is dripping down the outside of the front of the transmission (by the torque converter / fly wheel area). It turns over strong, but will not start and leaks fuel when I crank it. Just checked and no DTC Codes stored. I am going to head out and try to see what is leaking, but wanted to see if anyone had this issue to help me focus my search. Thanks in advance.
My 06 5.9 was leaking from the CP3 pump. The man who fixed it said there was a bolt on the from of the pump going through a small plastic pc that was one half turn loose. He said at best you can only get about 3 to 4 threads on that bolt..stopped the leak. The fan was blowing it back across the oil pan making it look like it was coming from everywhere.

Keep everything CLEAN. Any little speck of dirt that gets in the fuel system can wreak havoc. Also do NOT check for leaks after install with your hand. The pressures involved are lethal. Instead use a piece of cardboard to check for leaks.

#4 also
I lost # 4 also a couple years ago heading into Charleston, WV on the turnpike. I smelled a little diesel but didn't realize I was leaking copious amounts of fuel until I saw the cars behind me with their wipers on. I was freaked out, but the whole thing was hilarious at the time because of the other cars with their wipers on. Still gives me a laugh. Anyway, replaced in Charleston at the dealer for $195 bucks I think. I diagnosed it for them thanks to DTR and it's members. Also, Injectors can go south slowly. Once you get the codes and cant get them to go away it's time to start looking for a replacement. Ebay was the route I went. I think I paid $150 for a junkyard injector. Running like new.
