Truck won't start...No cranking?
Truck won't start...No cranking?
Just two days back from a 7 month deployment, running around base today in processing, went to leave one appointment to go to another and truck would not start. Tried a couple more times with no success. Pop the hood and check the batteries/terminals and they look good and are tight. Check the under hood fuses and they are good too. I then try it again and notice all the electrical options are working just fine. Then discover the key fob isn't working, it won't unlock/lock the doors. So I call the wife and have her bring her key, thinking the batteries in my fob are dead. Well her key does the same thing, no door lock action, and no cranking when the key is turned, but all electrical things are working, hear the pump, and clicking under the hood as normal. I thought maybe one of the batteries are going dead as they are the originals, pull them and have them load tested and they were good. So now I am thinking it may have something to do with the security system. Is there a security module of any kind and would it crap out like this?

Hey man welcome home. Hope you can get some rest and get worked back into your wife's house
Thanks for the rotation
Actually, I think it just might be the batteries from sitting all deployment. I know you said they tested ok. But what does the voltage drop to when you crank? Might be too low.

Have you tried to jump start it?
The problem does sound like it is in the security part but weak batteries on these trucks do all kinds of goofy things. You might even just try a new battery in the key fob. Cheap and easy and will rule out one possible problem.

Thanks for the replies. Well I cleaned up the terminals and reinstalled the batteries and everything worked find! Go figure. I guess the computer got cleared out and it works fine now. I hope is doesn't become an issue though. After my trip to Omaha I will do an update on the 19.5 wheels and tires too.
a buddy of mine had that happen to his truck and all it took to fix it was pull out the fuse with the little white plastic clip around it under the hood. It is the keyless entry module or something to that nature. I assume pulling the battery cables did the same thing.
